Generational views

While unsourced, this should be easy to source if you have access to anything on American architectural history. The Second Empire style was highly popular during the French Second Empire period, collapsed rather rapidly after the empire's collapse, was derided for much of the 20th century, and has since become seen as historically important and worthy of preservation.
