- decriminalisation of drugs to “end the war on mental exploration”;
- the legalisation of human sacrifice (“As president, Cthulhu will eliminate these barriers to worship and grant true freedom to the faithful.”)
- Foreign policy aims to lose any conciliatory face: “Peace makes your species weak. If you ever wish to be more than you are and be worthy to serve, flex those angry monkey muscles.”

- légaliser les sacrifices humains ;
- poursuivre, « comme tous ceux avant lui », le réchauffement climatique ;
- mettre en place un « plan économique simple » qui consiste à « manger les riches » (un délai est néanmoins accordé à ceux qui daigneraient rejoindre les rangs des adorateurs de Cthulhu) ;
- ouvrir une « guerre totale ».

- ... that cosmic horror Cthulhu (pictured) has run for President of the United States in every election since 1996? I'll need a bit of lenience for sourcing, I'm afraid. Because to be honest, as a fictional character, what it means to "run for President" is inherently debatable, but hopefully that's clear enough. That campaign materials were produced for each presidential election is sourced separately in the article, starting with https://web.archive.org/web/19970503024639/http://www.sirius.com/~chaosium/cth-pres.html in 1996, through https://cthulhuforamerica.com/ for 2020. Hopefully the concept is fun enough to make up for the lenience required.
- ALT1:... that cosmic horror Cthulhu has run for President of the United States (2016 campaign pictured) in every election since 1996?

- Comment: I could stretch the image to be square, if someone believes it to be preferable. Cthulhu's form is famously malleable.

- Is the red tie a clue that this is the former president's true nature? I see from the article that author Stephen King suggested the same idea. David notMD (talk) 09:47, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- I don't think the cosmic horror has a Republican/Democrat preference. He'd eat everybody. --GRuban (talk) 17:18, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- This article is new enough and long enough. The image is suitably licensed, the hook facts are cited inline, the article is neutral and I detected no copyright issues. A QPQ has been done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:27, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

This would make an ideal April Fool's hook. GRuban, would you have any objection to having the hook held over for April Fools? Gatoclass (talk) 02:10, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Gatoclass: Er - yes and no. I haven't looked at the current crop, but aren't there plenty of better ones for April 1? I rather like the image (tentacled horror in suit and tie - you have to admit that's pretty good!), and with the high level of competition that I understand usually shows for April 1, I am afraid it won't get the coveted image slot. If you think it has a good chance of actually getting the image slot, then sure. But if not, I'd just as soon take another day where the image competition would be less. I didn't write it aiming for the April 1 slot, I actually wrote it because it was a WP:RPG Requested Article (and I hoped to cooperate with another roleplaying interested editor). --GRuban (talk) 17:37, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
- FWIW, I don't think either of the current images are better than this one. —valereee (talk) 18:24, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
- All right then, if Gatoclass agrees (I know you can't guarantee it, but if you honestly think there is a good chance), then The Stars Can Be Right on April 1. --GRuban (talk) 20:00, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

First Year was 1992
[edit]The Cthulhu for President kit was first released in 1992, not 1996. But, I am leery of making the change without documentation; no need to start an edits war.
In particular, the image of Cthulhu erupting through the poster wearing an old-style campaign hat is iconic. http://www.waynesbooks.com/images/graphics/cthulhuforpresident1992set.jpg contains images of the 1992 kit, which I myself used to own and still have some components of.
