[edit]Back in the late 80s or early 90s, Nelson owned his own automobile racing team. I cannot remember which organization he raced in. I believe that was before American LeMans came into existance. The car he owned was very much a predicessor of the current American LeMans prototype cars. Johnnie O'Connell was Nelson's co-driver. Perhaps there should be some mention of Nelson's auto racing career on his bigraphical page and perhaps some links to the American LeMans article, Johnnie O'Connell's article, and sports car racing articles in general. I did a little more research and discovered the following: Nelson's team was Screaming Eagles Racing. The year was 1995. The series he raced in was managed by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). His car was a Spice SE90 with either a Lexus engine or an Oldsmobile engine depending upon which race you are talking about. He was not associated with Johnnie O'Connell. His co-driver was Dan Clark. Nelson also raced at least once with Dyson Racing, a team still active in ALMS racing. SEdwardB 16:19, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

- The article says Jon Stewart "mocked" this statement, but he simply showed the video clip. The statement mocks itself ... and the person who said it, and the person he said it to, and all those who agree with it, and all those who have uttered similar sentiments. By saying what he did, Craig T. Nelson mocked the entire "Tea Party movement", far more effectively than any critic has. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.109.45.74 (talk) 08:59, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

[edit]I changed the date that he started the club after watching the April 2, 1992 episode of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson where Mr. Nelson explained that he just started the club. Cdova (talk) 07:27, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

Craig T. Nelson SCCA Club Racer.
[edit]In October of 1993 I participated in the SCCA San Francisco Region First Race at our New Club owned Track outside Willows California. Thunderhill Raceway.
Craig was entered and raced in the CSR Sports racing class. He finished 4th. overall in that race and 2nd. in Class. I was in the same race in the FC Formula open wheel class and finished 1st. in Class and 5th. overall. After the race Craig went to the local airport and boarded his private Jet and had the pilot "Buzz" the raceway on his way home. 2601:646:A283:5F40:6D98:E978:231A:183A (talk) 19:01, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
