This article is a mess

[edit]

Is it a list? Is it a biographical piece? I can't tell. The lead provides no real guidance. Where is the encyclopedic notability? -Ad Orientem (talk) 01:59, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it is meant to be getting like a standard peerage page, viz: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duke_of_Devonshire . I think their notability is beyond question.Rodolph (talk) 00:10, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Still a mess and some questions

[edit]

Before this article can be cleaned up to Wiki standards, I would like to know if my assumption at the deletion page is correct: was the German title from 1777 to 1915 "Freiherr"? Also, if you are reading this, Rodolph, please do NOT use abbreviations (bitte keine Abkürzungen); they are confusing. - HyperGaruda (talk) 17:40, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

French title was Comte from 1777-, and Comte and Graf from 1915-; and Freiherr from the sixteenth century. Which abbreviations do you mean?Rodolph (talk) 17:44, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, that is weird... unless these specific titles Comte and Graf are not bound to a fiefdom (comté and grafschaft in this case). Tell me, do you know if there is a territory named County/Comté/Grafschaft Salis-Seewis? Because that is what the current article title implies.
And I am talking about the abbreviations used in the article, such as k.k. Hauptmann and v. V.-D. - HyperGaruda (talk) 05:53, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
titles of nobility don't have to be tied to a location. The name is Salis, de Salis or von Salis, and then to distinguish between branches of said family the convention is to hyphenate a location, in this case it is Seewis, a village in eastern Switzerland and before that a village in the Grisons Republic. 09:05, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Thought so already. Since we're essentially dealing with multiple separate titles (freiherr, comte, graf), I think it is better to rename the article to "House of Salis-Seewis", where we can mention all the titles bestowed on the family. But first, let's just hope that the article survives the AfD. - HyperGaruda (talk) 10:23, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
thank you! (& I'll fix the Adels style abbreviations).Rodolph (talk) 10:54, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
