Cool Kids (Echosmith song) → Cool Kids (song) – No other songs with the same title DEW. Adrenaline (Nahnah4) 05:02, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- Comment there's a song with that title listed at Cool Kids (album) -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 07:33, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose there's also the title track of Cool Kids (album), it benefits no one to remove "Echosmith" from an Echosmith song. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:32, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- It is the same as "Am I Wrong", the song by Nico & Vinz, it is Am I Wrong (song) when you search "Am I Wrong", it clearly states that Nico & Vinz isn't the only artist to have a song with that title. DEW. Adrenaline (Nahnah4) 08:42, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- That isn't a particularly good example as that RM left hanging the need for Am I Wrong (Nico & Vinz song), but yes there are plenty of songs sitting at (song) denying other songs. The difference is that in this case you're proposing a move to remove the artist name. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:39, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

- Oppose. Only at WP is there a headlong rush to remove the artist's name from the song title. Everywhere else understands that in common parlance the two are a composite title. Are Echosmith so bad we need to remove the name? --Richhoncho (talk) 09:51, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

Similarity with Pumped Up Kicks & Every Breath You Take
[edit]Both music and lyrics remind me strongly of the song Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People mixed with Every Breath You Take by The Police. Am I the only one? --Phrontis (talk) 13:24, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

Requested move 15 May 2018
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved as requested per the consensus of the discussion below. This follows the specific instruction of WP:SONGDAB; if it is necessary to resolve inconsistency between WP:SONGDAB and WP:INCDAB, I suggest further discussion of the guidelines at their talk pages. Dekimasuよ! 19:42, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
Cool Kids (Echosmith song) → Cool Kids (song) – Per WP:SONGDAB, as this is the only song of this name with an article on Wikipedia, it should reside at the name with just (song), there is no need for further disambiguation. That move was made by me earlier following a WP:RMTR request, but it was reverted so I suppose we have to go through RM, even though the guideline is very clear. Note that the RM on this page above was done before the RFC which established the WP:SONGDAB guideline in its current form in 2016. Note also, that the redirect Cool Kids (song) has pointed to Cool Kids (Echosmith song) since 2014 as well, until it was changed today without discussion to point to the Cool Kids dab page. — Amakuru (talk) 22:00, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

- Oppose per WP:INCDAB, which is part of the more broadly-applied WP:Disambiguation guideline vs. a narrow guideline like WP:SONGDAB. I believe SONGDAB should be updated to adhere to the wider guideline. Note that Cool Kids#Music lists Cool Kids (Kix song) and
2at least 6 others, so we should more clearly disambiguate for the sake of readers and future editors. Song titles are far more repeated than other media (even when not considering cover versions), so we should be much more clear preemptively and use additional disambiguation whenever there is more than one song covered by Wikipedia, even if that coverage is just currently part of a track listing, because those could turn into stubs or even full articles anytime. -- Netoholic @ 22:16, 15 May 2018 (UTC) minor update. -- Netoholic @ 22:46, 15 May 2018 (UTC)- @Netoholic: As I mentioned to you on your talk page, WP:SONGDAB does not need "updating" since it has wording that was established explicitly by an RFC in 2016 and reflects the community's consensus on this issue. Furthermore, the two guidelines aren't contradictory since the wording at WP:INCDAB starts by saying
When a more specific title is still ambiguous...
The title Cool Kids (song) is not still ambiguous since, as stated in WP:SONGDAB, it is the only song with that name that has an article on Wikipedia. — Amakuru (talk) 22:24, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

refers to the first line statement of purpose for WP:Disambiguation which saysthe process of resolving conflicts that arise when a potential article title is ambiguous, most often because it refers to more than one subject covered by Wikipedia, either as the main topic of an article, or as a subtopic covered by an article in addition to the article's main topic
. A song does not need to have a standalone article to warrant clearer disambiguation - it can be part of an artist or album article, even just as part of a track listing, to necessitate clearer disambiguation. -- Netoholic @ 22:44, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support as WP:SONGDAB was established as to be in line with WP:ALBUMDAB. Steel1943 (talk) 20:00, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support – I moved this article because there was no other song with the title "Cool Kids". I mean, common sense should tell you that if this is the only song with the name "Cool Kids" on Wikipedia, then why is the artist's name in the parentheses? JE98 (talk) 20:22, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support - Until another song article named "Cool Kids" is created, I support this move per WP:PTOPIC. --Jax 0677 (talk) 20:52, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support per WP:SONGDAB and the consensus in the RFC, we don't include the artist name unless there are articles on other songs of the same name. Should be uncontroversial at this point.--Cúchullain t/c 20:10, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
