Article title

[edit]

These kinds of move wars are pretty stupid. "Naming conventions" tend to impose uniformity on articles that don't really need it. You'll notice even from a Google search that "Constance of Antioch" and "Constance, Princess of Antioch" appear in the literature. Is "princess" really necessary? I'm not sure anyone actually used that title at the time; I'll have to check when I get a chance. Adam Bishop (talk) 17:50, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Baldwin of Antioch

[edit]

Who was the Baldwin of Antioch that was killed at the Battle of Myriokephalon? According to that article he was Emperor Manuel's brother-in-law, so presumably he was Maria of Antioch's brother, and presumably Constance was his mother. Is that so? If so, who was his father? Will review. Sainsf (talk · contribs) 02:06, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fairly well-written, without copyvio/dablink/external link issues. A few comments: Sainsf (talk · contribs) 07:16, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Early life
  • She was born in 1128 A short sentence, can be merged with the earlier one
  • After learning of his death Maybe "learning of" is redundant?
Reign
  • Constance's mother again laid claim to the regency I think you should refer to her as "Alice" throughout
  • Fulk sent his envoy to Raymond of Poitiers in France Not sure what "in France" means here, Poitiers is definitely in France. Do you mean Raymond was in France at that time?
Family
  • Duplinks, but I think we should retain them for convenience.
Images
  • About the caption "Constance's first husband, Raymond of Poitiers, dies in the Battle of Inab" - I wonder if "died" would be more proper.. Maybe the same for "tortures" in the next image.

Sainsf, thank you for your thorough review. I think I fixed all problems you mentioned above. Borsoka (talk) 00:47, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

According to William (of Malmesbury), Gesta Regum Anglorum: The History of the English Kings: General introduction and commentary, Volume 2, Roger Aubrey Baskerville Mynors, Rodney M. Thomson and Michael Winterbottom, (Oxford University Press, 1999), 244;"In 1063 Robert the Frisian married Gertrude of Saxony widow of Floris I count of Holland, who already had a daughter Bertha. Bertha and Philip married in or soon after the conclusion of peace in Mar. or Apr. 1071, when Philip recognized Robert as count;". --Kansas Bear (talk) 18:02, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I do not understand. Did you quote text from Wiliam of Malmesbury's chronicle? Borsoka (talk) 18:08, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
According to Aristocratic Women in Medieval France, ed. Theodore Evergates, page 117;"Gertrude was occupied with preserving the county of Holland for the son of her first marriage, the future count Dirk V, and arranging a brilliant marriage for her daughter Bertha to king Philip of France." --Kansas Bear (talk) 18:15, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
According to Adela of Blois: countess and lord (c.1067-1137), Kimberly A. LoPrete, page 206;"Bertha, born to count Floris of Holland and Gertrude of Saxony, became the step-daughter of count Robert l 'the Frisian'". --Kansas Bear (talk) 18:18, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
