While writing, editing and illustrating this article I have made every effort to remain neutral. I am aware that certain biases can manifest themselves in the thought processes of professionals that have spent as much time in a field of endeavor as I have. To further combat the possibility of a less-than-neutral bias, I asked a knowledgeable third party to read and comment on its neutrality. With the exception of a few minor edits, that third party saw no issues with the article.

In the spirit of complete transparency, I am the author of the Compressed Air Operations Manual, published by McGraw-Hill Books. This book is the first book listed under the Book section in this article. It has been in print for 12 years and typically garners good reviews. Within my professional sphere of influence the book is generally regarded as an excellent resource for those personnel that are tasked with setting up compressed air systems.

In addition to the book, I have invented six different compressed air drying technologies, one of which is outlined in this article. I felt the other technologies were too obscure and/or specialized to be included in a generalized article such as the one presented here.

I still remain professionally active in the compressed air industry and am currently employed with a company that manufactures compressed air accessories, including compressed air dryers.

That being said, I would consider my professional credentials to be an asset when writing an article on this particular topic.

Still, if anyone feels there is a neutrality or a conflict of interest issue with this article, please leave a comment on this talk page explaining your objections and I will review and address your concerns. BSE9619 (talk) 20:29, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for being transpsarent about your background. It is clear that you know the subject: great graphics. You seem to be new to Wikipedia; you are certainly welcome to make contributions. Note that Wikipedia articles require citations which are in-line and not just a list of books; see Wikipedia:Citing sources. Rlsheehan (talk) 13:44, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

Compressed air dryer and Air dryer seem to cover the same subject. Both offer some good discussion and there are some good graphics. I do not care which one is merged in to the other one; a merger, however seems appropriate. Rlsheehan (talk) 17:21, 24 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the idea of merging this article with air dryers. The reason I made a new page is that I felt the tile: "Air Dryer" is too generic. There are many devices that can be referred to as air dryers. I wanted to add the specialty of "compressed air" to the topic. The title is what kept me kept me from editing the other. I'm recently retired and a newbie at this and wasn't sure how to change the title on the other article. Similarly, I'm not really sure how to merge the articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BSE9619 (talkcontribs) 13:53, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Another item I would like to address is "A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject." I certainly have a close connection with the subject matter, it has been my career for the past 30+ years and I have authored a book on the subject. I don't see why that would be considered a detriment or cause for publishing a warning. Could someone please explain why this is a problem.

The third item that I would like to address is "This article is written like a personal reflection or opinion essay that states a Wikipedia editor's personal feelings about a topic." Could some one please give an example from the text of what this means. It doesn't seem like personal reflection to me, so a little help here would be appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BSE9619 (talkcontribs) 14:37, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disambiguation page? Given that "air dryer" is a more general term, which is used in other fields for quite different types of equipment, I would propose making Air dryer into a disambiguation page, with a link to Compressed air dryer and any other relevant pages. In particular, the term is used both for devices which dry air, and for devices which use air to dry something else. Admittedly, many of the other uses of the term seem to be even more specialised than Compressed air dryer, such as air dryers which use jets of air in the paper manufacturing industry and possibly in printing. On the other hand, "Air dryer" can also refer to a hand dryer, a dehumidifier, and probably much more. (Somewhere, there may need to be a link to the Rotary drum air dryer, which I think is used for drying both compressed and near-ambient pressure air.) Looks to me like Compressed air dryer is the more complete article of the two, and a merge is in order, but this newbie editor is not likely to do it. Dicklyon (talk) 05:33, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've merged Air dryer to Compressed air dryer. I tried to avoid repetition in bringing over the content, but the merge did involve a lot of interweaving of sentences from both articles so I apologize if I inadvertently included any redundancies. Page to generalized and doesn’t offer depth

[edit]

I'm new to the platform, and I'm more than willing to help an contribute with some guidance.

With that said there are areas that can be significantly elaborated upon.

For example on top of my head : No mention of …..

  • Refrigerated

High pressure dryers-> Internally integrated high temp dryer Externally integrated high temp dryer

cycling dryers -> -Variable Frequency drive cycling dryers (Flat plate heat exchangers used in tandem with VFD controllers -True cycling thermal mass dryers (Shell & Tube heat exchangers)

The material used on heat exchangers - why there's a benefit of heat transfer on having a copper rather than an aluminum or stainless heat exchangers

-High pressure refrigerated dryers

  • Desiccant Dryers ->

Difference between Single tower blower heat reactive dryers Externally heated Internally heated Blower purge heated Steam heated Breathing air High pressure Modular Point of use Quad tower Rental offshore desiccant dryers

  • Hybrid Dryers->

Application specifications Dewpoints Corrosion resistance Pressure Etc

No mention of the history - innovations and evolutions in the industry For example Zeks was the first to introduce and develop the the true tm cycling dryer in 1959

Cam timers to solid state boards to digital controllers to the present of PLC and touch screen HMI's

Valves -> how they evolved from aqua pneumatic to shudder valves to present day angle body piston valves

- true manufacturers in the industry -industry leaders past and present throughout the past 6 decades -its connection with compressor companies /history. For example SULLAIR was the first compressor company to acquire an air treatment manufacturer. (This is the reason why compressor manufactures offer air dryers with there compressors now.)

-notable brands & companies that no longer exist -legacy companies and brands still present

The future of the space
