Merge

[edit]

This article is a combination of the two pages Community gardening and Community garden. I moved the content and merged it to the Community gardening section, since this made more sense to me grammatically (talking about the act of community gardening, not a community garden).

In the last article there was a discussion if a separate list of community gardens should be created. I changed the formatting a little to make it easier to read. A more academic focus could be flushed into this article to go along with the content that is mainly focused on specific gardens. Together they make a strong document BUT there are way more gardens then are listed...so its not all together accurate. --Ryandwayne 20:54, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup?

[edit]

Anyone out there interested in cleaning this up with me. I'm thinking remove references to specific gardens and placing them on a list (according to wiki-standards) and refocusing this article from a more academic or NPOV perspective. If you are interested, I can list some resources online that we can all review together and then hit some revisions of the text. I'm thinking post a list of resources by the end of December and then rewrite the text and edit the 'list of gardens' by the end of Jan/or Feb. Speakup if you are interested. --Ryandwayne (talk) 04:10, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just did a major reorganization. There is still a minor amount of redundant text and organization could probably be further improved. I removed the cleanup tag, though, since it's no longer in dire need. Feel free to be bold and make edits without waiting for others to get on the bandwagon. -- Beland (talk) 23:55, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

split out US section?

[edit]

The US section causes systemic bias and gives undue weight to the US. There is enough material for a standalone article. The topic is notable enough. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 22:52, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Given the size of the US section at present, it seems like a slam dunk to split the section into its own article and just leave a summary here. -- Jake (talk) 21:31, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This has since been done. -- Beland (talk) 23:57, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

It seems to me that there should be some mention of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organopónicos perhaps a Cuba section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aberrantgeek (talkcontribs) 13:45, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Split to Community gardening in the United States

[edit]

Merge (September 2012).

[edit]

Do not merge. Allotments gardeners have a contract to garden a plot, and they are responsible for that plot alone. Also, others are now allowed on that plot, unless permission is granted. Gordo (talk) 08:31, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion (mostly on the other talk page) has a clear consensus not to merge, so I'm closing it now. Chiswick Chap (talk) 18:44, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Food Access

[edit]

I think that it could be interesting to expand upon the health effects of community gardens by further exploring the benefits that community gardens have in communities with limited food access. This topic could then explore the benefits of community gardens in terms of community development, eradication of food deserts, and health education.

WikiProject Stub-Class California Article

[edit]

My name is Mitchell and I plan to add to this stub-article and incorporate additional content. The article content is relevant to the community gardening topic and the neutral tone indicates the article is unbiased. I think the examples section could be enhanced, particularly under the United States. Perhaps a history overview of the Community garden movement would make sense. Possibly including notable states that have community gardens would be helpful and what they look like in today's cities. Finally, there are a couple citations [31] that are used multiple times. Perhaps incorporate additional sources to expand on the different ideas. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mkihiro (talkcontribs) 22:42, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
