The main difference between the two Maoist micro parties was that Communist Unity was founded by Icelanders that had encountered Maoism while studying in Norway, while the Communist Party of Iceland (Marxist–Leninist) was founded by students who had encountered it while studying in Sweden, so they each had much stronger ties to the Maoist parties in their Scandinavian "mother country" than in the others, and I doubt CU had much to do with the Swedish Maoists. From 1976-78 Communist Unity was favored by the Chinese, after that the Chinese of course quickly scaled down their engagement in international Maoism when Deng took over.--Batmacumba (talk) 22:05, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
