shirley cards named after shirley paige

Light "yellow" skin?
[edit]"The new reference card featured Japanese women with light yellow skin." I think this is a somewhat clumsy way to refer to east Asian skin tones, which, as any fule kno, are not yellow. Possibly racist, definitely clumsy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NelC (talk • contribs) 13:55, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
- The world ‘yellow’ was taken from Lorna Roth's article. The Japanese don't appear particularly yellow to me and Roth must have met several in person, so this mystifies me. Only in figure 11 a yellow sheen can be seen in the neck area, but considering it's absent in the cheek area I think this is caused by a light bounce and possibly an image exposure problem. Maybe she meant it in a relative sense? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.61.180.106 (talk) 15:13, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
Biased chemistry? How is that even possible?
[edit]"Stock color film chemistry for still cameras was designed originally with a positive bias toward "Caucasian" skin tones because of its high level of reflectivity."
That sentence is pure non-sense. It should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that chemistry used to capture light works better when there is more light to capture. Duh! It's like saying telescope are racist, because they work better with stars than with black holes... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aydree (talk • contribs) 12:03, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
