Prior to entering Parliament, Dr. Carrie co-owned and operated the Lakeridge Chiropractic and Wellness Clinic in Oshawa. His practice is renowned as a one of Durham Region’s leading chiropractic clinics

Greetings user 142.68.224.209

You accompanied your speedy deletion of my edit with the word “vandalism.” In our coming discussion, you might find it helpful to first learn more about Wikipedia protocol at these two links:

Here is one quote from the above Wikipedia link:

“Avoid the word "vandal". In particular, the word should not be used in reference to any contributor in good standing or to any edits that can arguably be construed as good-faithed. If the edits in question are made in good faith, they are not vandalism. Instead of calling a person making such edits a "vandal", discuss his or her specific edits with him or her.” Boyd Reimer (talk) 14:37, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Expanding Carrie's encyclopedia entry

[edit]

In response to the various edits made recently, specifically those to remove neutral and well sourced factual information about Carrie's political career.

I understand that there may be an issue regarding "personal life." I do not consider this to be an encyclopedic topic either. However, if there is going to be deletions made in this regard they need to be sweeping. It is unclear to me how some politicians may have detailed information on who they have been in relationships with, who they are dating, etc. and others may not even include a single sentence informing people that this public figure currently lives with his wife and three children. This is nothing more than you might find on the cover of a novel.

And in response to deletions regarding Carrie's association with issues regarding General Motors. Carrie has spent much of his political career advocating on behalf of General Motors and it is incorrect to suggest that his participation in the manufacturing industry in southern ontario is "marginal." Every effort has been made to well-document and maintain neutrality in the article and it would be appreciated if wholesale undoing of work is not the response of people who are usually dedicated to rooting out vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JGHist (talkcontribs) 01:18, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that "personal life" deletions should be sweeping. I've removed many such sections from other pages, and I'm applying the same standard here. If any of Carrie's relatives are notable public figures, we can include references to them. If his domestic life is somehow notable in a more general sense, we can mention that as well (although I don't foresee this happening in many cases). Otherwise, it's just promotional padding.
My concern with the GM section is that it doesn't actually involve Carrie. CJCurrie (talk) 02:32, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It would be appreciated if well-sourced information about Carrie's political career under the subsection "political career" wasn't removed with the click of the "undo" button. Some of the personal life information you are deleting as my "edits" was in the article which you repeatedly reverted to for several years, such as his father being a Royal Navy officer. The sentence about his family, if it is felt to be just "promotional padding" is fine to exclude so long as similar entries are removed elsewhere.

I understand your concerns with the GM section, however, the GM issue is very pertinent to Carrie's political career, and any constituent of Oshawa would find it enlightening to see just how the GM issue was handled by their local representative. If you would prefer sourced press releases of Carrie's personal stance on the GM issue then by all means ask for them. There are both positive and negative aspects of Carrie's dealings with GM which are made evident by the diversity of sources and information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.197.82.203 (talk) 15:03, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My point regarding the GM section is that it (i) has virtually nothing to do with Carrie and (ii) has the appearance of being promotional. Given that we may be headed for a federal election soon, it strikes me as inadvisable to leave the text in the article. Anyway, I'm going to ask for others to give their opinion.
The sentence about Carrie's father is mostly innocuous, but it's not especially relevant either. CJCurrie (talk) 03:49, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My Freedom

[edit]

Good afternoon, I want to let you know my thoughts on our freedom convoy. It’s fabulous and inspiring and I hope they succeed in bringing our freedoms back. Our Prime Minister is NOT listening to science unless it’s political science. Mr Trudeau and Mr Singh should step down as well as Mr Ford and give Canadians their life back. Mr Carrie, can you please fight for Canada and our Charter of Rights. My son can not get a job because he doesn’t trust the vaccine. It’s absolutely disgusting that Mr Trudeau would rather see you starve to save his ego. Please talk to the caucus about lifting all Mandates and opening up our province.

                        Sincerely,
            Mary Somerville (nee Hettle)
