Rationale for move from "Proteoid root" to "Cluster root"

[edit]
Usage once strongly favoured proteoid roots, but in the last decade has swung strongly to cluster roots

I have moved this article from Proteoid root to cluster root. Proteoid roots is the original name, because at first these roots were thought to occur only in Proteaceae. They were subsequently found in a number of other families, making Proteoid roots a misnomer. Cluster roots was proposed, but adoption was fairly slow at first. An analysis of papers reported by Google Scholar shows preference for "cluster roots" has increased by over 3% a year for the last decade. It has been the preferred term since 2005, and is now favoured by about a factor of two. Hesperian 01:43, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
