Geometry

[edit]

I notice this is a geometry stub as well as an architecture stub. This shape has abstract geometry relevance which is not treated in the proposed merge article. FWIW, I'll write it here and leave it to others to determine whether a merge is appropriate. 198.99.123.63 17:19, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

intersection of barrel vaults?

[edit]

A vault formed by the intersection of barrel vaults is a groin vault, according to the List of architectural vaults page. But it's difficult to describe the difference--in a cloister vault, space is empty only where it would be empty in BOTH of the intersecting barrel vaults, and it's solid where it would be solid in EITHER vault. In a groin vault, the space is empty where it would be empty in EITHER of the intersecting barrel vaults, and it's solid only where it would be solid in BOTH vaults.65.213.77.129 (talk) 15:57, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
