Racist abuse
[edit]Faeces and a gorilla? Why on earth would you include this? Sick!
Only a racist would include this 76.80.94.226 (talk) 05:37, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- If Myrie himself thought these incidents worthy of mention, in that 2020 interview with The Guardian, then I don't see why they shouldn't be included. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:49, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
The article makes it quite clear, in referring to these things, that it was to illustrate how Myrie had been the victim of racist abuse. It does not suggest the editor who put this in was a racist - on the contrary, if you look at this information in context, it indicates that the editor who put this in was an anti-racist, illuminating how racial abuse is still a real problem. Rollo August (talk) 16:40, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
As a high profile black British journalist, CM was inevitably going to receive racist abuse from the lunatic fringe. He's actually personally popular with the general public. --Ef80 (talk) 09:15, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
Mary Berry?
[edit]On BBC Radio 4's Saturday Live. on 12 February 2022, Myrie said that his mother had worked as a seamstress for the Mary Quant company. But this article also claims that she worked for Mary Berry, which seems slightly more unlikely. The source is mylondon.news. Is this a fact or a mistake? Why would Myrie's mother, as a seamstress in Bolton, ever have come into contact with Mary Berry? Martinevans123 (talk) 11:17, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
- So I have removed reference to Mary Berry and added one to Mary Quant. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:43, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]Can we not find a better portrait of the subject than one in which we can't actually see his face?! DavidFarmbrough (talk) 02:38, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- As you probably know, there is nothing else at Commons, Searching the web, very little appears that is available with any Creative Commons licenses. In fact only this one, which has "Some rights reserved". I think having no image might be better than the current one. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:27, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- Is it worth emailing him at his BBC address asking him to take an unencumbered selfie? It's bizarre that such a well known TV face doesn't have a better photo here. Probably best to wait until he gets back from Ukraine though, he's probably got a lot on his mind at the moment. --Ef80 (talk) 12:23, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- Good idea. Yes, he's just gone back to Kyiv. Martinevans123 (talk) 13:13, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- The image now added by User:Tm is excellent. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:41, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed, thanks Tm. --Ef80 (talk) 14:55, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

Glory Fan
[edit]Should it be mentioned in the interests that he only supports his football team because he is a glory fan? 2A00:23C5:8D06:6F01:6DBC:107E:45E2:8036 (talk) 23:52, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
