Is it appropriate to mention the problems they had with their turibne?

[edit]

Info around the net has it the Liberty 2.5 MW turbine had a problem with the gear train. This resulted in high warranty costs to the co., which necessitated the sale of the co. to United Tech (to get cash flow). They also dropped development of the 10MW turbine because of this as well. The economic downturn was not the primary cause of their problems. Their share of the market, which had been growing, dropped substantially from one year to the next (2009 to 2010 I believe).--71.214.222.157 (talk) 14:49, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently the warranty cost problems were more severe than United Tech. had expected. That's likely the real reason they sold the company. The Liberty Turbine was touted as being reliable and as having solved many of the problems with the gear train that other mfctrs were having. Seems to have not been the case. I read somewhere they had to replace or repair gear trains on many of their earlier production because they weren't manufactured correctly. --66.41.154.0 (talk) 03:58, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
