Fair use rationale for Image:ClevelandForce.jpg

[edit]

Image:ClevelandForce.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:30, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

To the editors that have contributed to this article (mostly cleaning up my grammar), I would like to offer a hearty Thank You. I am in the midst of a massive project for this article adding year by year summaries.Hx823 (talk) 20:48, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To the anonymous IPs that have expanded this article, I really can't thank you enough. The inclusion of what looks like most of the former players is great if some what lengthy (see below). 01:50, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Former Players

[edit]

I can appreciate the time and effort that it took to expand the listing of former players, I'm doing the same thing on a Geocities web site. But, does anyone know if a table like that can be broken down into two columns? That is quite a long list and it might look neater if that could be done. Hx823 (talk) 01:48, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The second team

[edit]

I'd just like to point out that the Second Force team originated as the Cleveland Crunch (and entering "Cleveland Crunch" into the wiki search box actually brings you here). So, if and when I can find the time I'm going to dig back and return the entire table from Crunch year one until the team went inactive/folded.Hx823 (talk) 01:54, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I restored the Cleveland Crunch info to this page as the Crunch/Force were the same team. The Metrostars and Red Bulls are listed as the same team on their MLS page so should the Crunch/Force. KitHutch (talk) 20:35, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Force players

[edit]

Is it really necessary in an encyclopedia to list all the former Force players? Wouldn't it be better and encyclopdic to just list the notable players? KitHutch (talk) 20:35, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As much as I enjoyed watching the Force/Crunch/Force, I'd have to agree. I already have an all time roster posted at Geocities. I'd post the link here, but that would smack of OR.Hx823 (talk) 03:15, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What kind of standards should be used in determining who stays and who goes? Longevity? Scoring? Just the ones with Wiki articles?Hx823 (talk) 23:08, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would say signficant contributions to the Force, MISL, or soccer in general sould be the criteria. KitHutch (talk) 22:53, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I split the list off into a new article: List of Cleveland Force (1978-1988) players. That should allow for the retention of the information without it cluttering up this page. - Eureka Lott 23:41, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Championship

[edit]

There is a video at You Tube of the last minute or so of that double overtime game at the Convo. I think it would be apropriate to add a link to it here. And not to drop names, or anything, but the video was posted by winning goalkeeper Otto Orf.Hx823 (talk) 03:22, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Besides, right now I'm not sure how to link a YouTube video to any web page let alone wikipedia.Hx823 (talk) 20:49, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I finally figured out to to do the link to YouTube. Enjoy! Hx823 (talk) 23:35, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heading

[edit]

Does anybody know why the heading for "Year By Year" is followed by the "Playoff" header in the article and everything looks like it is in the correct order in the wiki mark-up? Am I missing something here?Hx823 (talk) 13:13, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal

[edit]

I propose that this article should be merged with the article for the Cleveland Crunch since A) The Crunch re-adopted the 'Force' nickname in about 2002 and the link for Cleveland Force (2002-2005) here on wikipedia links to the Crunch article.

Obviously my vote is Aye. Hx823 (talk) 23:38, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, that wouldn't be a wise decision. The teams played in the same league and shared a name, but they were separate franchises with different owners, histories, and records. Merging the two would be akin to merging Category:Washington Senators (1901–60) players with Category:Washington Senators (1961–1971) players, because they shared a name and played in the American League. - Eureka Lott 01:40, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
