Clarence M. Mitchell III → Clarence Mitchell III – WP:CRITERIA for naturalness; consistency with the titles for other members of the Clarence Mitchell political dynasty, Clarence Mitchell Jr. and Clarence Mitchell IV. Arbor to SJ (talk) 06:46, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
- All the sources on the article call him Clarence M. Mitchell. We should go with what the reliable sources use. ~ GB fan 15:34, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
- The Baltimore Business Journal and Washington Post articles cited use "Clarence Mitchell" as well. C-SPAN also omits the middle initial in its database of videos of Mitchell [1] Arbor to SJ (talk) 18:08, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). @Arbor to SJ and GB fan: Please discuss. SkyWarrior 20:14, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
- Additional info: The Baltimore Sun has used "Clarence Mitchell 3rd" (May 6, 1995) and "Clarence Mitchell III" (June 29, 1996, May 17, 2001) in its articles. My google searches found that "Clarence M. Mitchell III" had ~100 results and "Clarence Mitchell III" ~80, so the Sun used either form interchangably.
- Also, a 1987 Washington Post article used "Clarence Mitchell III" in the headline. Arbor to SJ (talk) 18:40, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
