Talk:Cipu language

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi Kwamikagami. Wonder why you changed the name to Cipu language? The name of the language is Cicipu, not Cipu. You wouldn't call an article on English 'Eng language' just because you can see a relationship between 'English' and 'England'...

As I understood it, the guidelines were if the name of the language is unambiguous (e.g. Cicipu), then use it as the name of the article. If it is ambiguous between the people and the language (e.g. Hausa), then append ' language'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stuartmcgill (talkcontribs) 14:45, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also noticed that you changed the classification to Kamuku. This is an old classification, for which there is no evidence, so I'll change it back to Kambari. Will also rename the page back to Cicipu unless there is any reason not to.Stuartmcgill (talk) 21:51, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cipu or Cicipu?

[edit]

This needs to be decided, it's not clear and seems to contradict itself. 05:43, 8 August 2019 (UTC)

It's Cicipu (see my comments years ago above!). I will change it again and see if it gets reverted again...

Well that's done but the page itself is still called Cipu... Stueymcgill (talk) 22:25, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
