Triple landing/takeoff

Cargo Airlines?
[edit]Currently listed are airlines such as Air France, Continental, and US Aiways under the cargo airlines section. The links provided do not go to any seperate cargo division of the airlines, and there is no indication that they operate strictly cargo flights out of the airport. Currently, I do not think it is the policy of WP: Airports to include comercial airlines that carry only hold cargo to the cargo operators list, so unless anyone has thoughts otherwise, I will trim the list down to pure cargo airlines. --KPWM_Spotter 22:05, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

CVG Cargo Destinations
[edit]Just to let everyone know, I am currently working on fixing the Cargo Destinations, as we all know CVG is a huge DHL Hub, and there is a lot of routes to add since there is not one unifying source. I am relying on Flight Aware to search if the route is flown consistently and not just a one time occurrence, then adding it on the list. Strange Sun Country Airlines Flight
[edit]Does anyone know why Sun Country Airlines SY#8619 using a 737-800, operated a flight from CVG-MSP on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. I was thinking it was a repo flight, but it is strange they would go through, CVG, which they do not serve, and is nowhere close to anywhere else they serve. - Hey all -- I think this is a much better location for Former Destinations. I think, if the goal is to show how service at CVG has decreased dramatically, it is better to provide passenger numbers from past years -- and maybe the number of daily departures/arrivals. This list is huge, and could be confusing. It's nice, but probably more interesting to aviation geeks like ourselves, than the general public looking to get current information. - After thinking about it, I am agreeing with you a lot on this, most of the list is long and uneccessary. One thing I was thinking, we could put the Delta, Delta Connection/Comair, and Air France Fligths destinations in the Delta Hub Cuts section instead to show what was directly affected by the Delta Hub Cuts. This would eliminate many of the other destinations that were removed long ago, and only leave the important ones which some people might care about. - @Tofutwitch11: I added the section under DL Hub, where a link to departed flights used to be located, it only has the Delta, Delta Connection, Comair (Pre-Merger), and Air France (Which was Cut As a Direct Result of Delta Pulling Out). I also included a hide/show button to keep it out of the way of casual readers who might not care about and just want to see current destinations. Let me know what you think. - @Tofutwitch11: Good Find! I think a map would be a better way to display this, as I do not know of any way to collapse it on mobile. When I have time, I will get get that together. It usually does not take that long. Thanks for the find, I bet that list looks ridiculously long on mobile.

A Gates
[edit]Does anyone know the current situation with Concourse A gates? As of December 2015 gates A20, A21, and A23 will soon be added. Are these for Allegiant and Frontier? I have heard that Southwest has been talking with the Airport Board about adding service. Before the AA/US merger: A4, A6, A7, A8, A9: American A10, A11, A12(Air Canada), A13: United A14, A15, A16, A17: US A18, A22: Allegiant A19, A22: Frontier
Adding gates A20, A21, and A23 and consolidating American and US, I would imagine we see something such as:
A4, A6, A7, A8, A9: American A10, A11, A12(Air Canada), A13: United A14, A15, A16, A17: Southwest, maybe JetBlue-pure speculation: I have not heard about JetBlue coming here soon. A18, A19, A20, A21, A22, A23: Allegiant/Frontier

- @Jtaylor7309: I flew American last week from Concourse A, and I will be back there on Wednesday. From what I saw, most of the gates are very busy, so there is obviously a lack of gate space, so I would see the need for more gates to open. Additionally, the move of Southwest to consolidate its Dayton routes to just Chicago is promising. It is very possible these gates are being opened for a new carrier, as a new airline would need new gates. Also, Vacation Express recently moved to Concourse B, which emptied a gate, however I am not sure which. They recently have done a bunch of gate reworking and in Concourse B all the ground level boardning gates were removed and new jetways installed. Also, American has a big regional operation at CVG, especially with the new PSA base, so they are going to need to keep most of the U.S. Airways gates. I think American Expansion is also likely, with the base, such as regional jet flights to Pittsburg and Raleigh/Durnam. It is very possible that these gates are needed just for Allegiant/Frontier expansion. I think it would make sense, and is likely that both Southwest and Jetblue could announce service this year, but they are going to need more gates. Both Jetblue and Sun Country Airlines have been operating a few ferry flights through CVG recently, which could also make sense, but who knows until it happens.
- Current:
- - A4, A6, A7, A8, A9, A14, A15, A16, A17: American
- - A10, A11, A12(Air Canada), A13: United
- - A18, A19, A20, A21, A22, A23: Allegiant/Frontier
- I would predict a new carrier would take over the A14,15,16,17 Block if they initiated service, but I think the new gates are for Allegiant and Frontier.
- As far as rumors, altough not worthy of a section of course:
- - American (More Likely) or Delta (Probably Not) Mainline to Pheonix
- - American Eagle to Pittsburg and Raleigh-Durnam
- - Frontier to Seattle and/or Portland
- - Allegiant to West Palm Beach, San Diego, and Los Angeles
- - Allegiant (Apple Vacations) to Various Carribean Destinations
- - Southwest to Chicago–Midway
- - JetBlue to Boston and/or Fort Lauderdale
- These are all of the current rumored routes I am aware of.
- As far as the article is concerned, I think that listing the three gates as newly opned plus a brief fescription that they are intended for new airline growth, wheter it be a new airline or expansion by existing airlines at the airport. Also, does anyone have a source detailing the reopening of these three gates?

Some useful tips for editor of this article
[edit]- WP: REPEATLINK: don't load the article down with repeated links to the same article (e.g., Delta Air Lines, Comair) - they are distracting for the reader, and are not helpful
- WP: RELTIME: avoid using relative expressions of time like "currently", "recently", "the past five years" - the reader following know when that part of the article was written, and it becomes out of date quickly.
- An airline is an "it", not a "they". Don't switch back and forth between "it" and "they".

Regarding certain image captions
[edit]@Stinger20: Still, how can you tell the destination by the registration numbers? I know of a somewhat complicated way to find out (only for domestic flights, so I'm not sure how to determine that that Delta 757 is bound for LGW), but the average reader does not and could question the information in the captions. I suggest the destination info is simply removed, added to the image description in Commons with some sort of reference, or something... — Sunnya343✈ (háblame • my work) 01:43, 27 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Sunnya343:I can add it to commons, I think most of the images actually said where they were going from their actual source. For longer/international flights, you can use the date which they were taken and easily find out their intended destionation. - @Sunnya343: I am going to remove the PHL one, I cannot find a good source for this. I took the BWI one, so I know thats to BWI, I will change that on its description page. For the London one, I believe I was the one who actually put it as London, but upon new research, it appears it was bound for Amsterdam, as the flight left Amsterdam that same evening (back for Cincinnati). http://www.planepictures.net/v3/show.php?id=786060. Though, I am going to remove it anyway, especially since this is not a great way to source info. Disputed Image - Master Plan

- @Torp657: How do I add references to a picture? Its no longer based on the master plan which is grossly out of date, CVG has announced other plans which I used to make this image. I would be happy to add the sources. I just removed all the old content in the section and sourced it with news articles and the new "Strategic Plan".Stinger20 (talk) 23:31, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Stinger20: The Master Plan was updated in 2013 so is not grossly out of date by any means. The Master Plan is also required by the FAA for any airport improvement funding so is the plan of record both the airport and FAA must reference. The Amazon facility is obviously additional to the Master Plan. I have reviewed the Strategic Plan at http://www.cvgairport.com/docs/default-source/leadership/cvg-2016-strategic-plan.pdf?sfvrsn=4 and this provides no references for the Amazon facility. Whatever document you used to update the map is what needs to be referenced and should be referenced on the "Overview map of planned changes at CVG" caption.

- @Torp657: Actually its very out of date because huge unexpected shifts have taken place at CVG in the last 4 years. In 2012 (when it was actually written), CVG had no LCCs, Delta was making large cuts, and United/American/US Airways had limited service. Essentially the conditions that were expected in the 2030 timeframe have already happened. The master plan calls for a decrease in gates, while the airport now is in need of more gates! Per the airport's website, they are actually updating the master plan, its listed under the business opportunities tab. Once it is released (hopefully soon!), I am sure it will provide more details on the Amazon facility. I am well aware that the master plan is required for FAA airport funding, hence why they are redoing it, but its going to take some time to finish, it started this previous October. I provided a source for the Amazon facility in the text and I will add it to the image as well. The Strategic Plan outlines the goals and CONRAC facility, which I identified in the updated text. Should AA CVG-PHX nonstop service be listed as year-round?
[edit]There are some news sources such as https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/american-airlines-adding-routes-at-cvg-to-miami-new-york-boston-and-more/ar-AAMVrVv and https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/american-airlines-adding-new-nonstop-destinations-expanded-service-from-cvg/ar-AAMTqJH that are saying that American Airlines is planning on expanding Cincinnati to Phoenix nonstop service to year-round, but AA CVG-PHX nonstop flights are only currently showing up in AA's flight schedules through April 4, 2022.
Should AA CVG-PHX nonstop service be listed as year round (due to some news sources stating that AA is planning on extending CVG-PHX nonstop service to year-round), even though AA CVG-PHX nonstop service isn't currently showing up in AA's flight schedules past 4/4/2022?
CVG land area dispute and correction
[edit]In the first paragraph, it states that CVG is 7,700 acres in size. This is incorrect. It is 7,000 acres in size, according to the FAA Airport Master Record for CVG and CVG (Skyvector), another FAA website. This has been wrong for over a year now. That figure was obtained from the airport website, which sometimes does not post correct information, especially how large an airport actually is. The FAA data is always correct and up to date, is what I always go by. Now I can correct this myself, but it would be reverted back, so I would like a general consensus on this point. Unsourced cargo flights
[edit]I don't have any history with this article or the airport, but was wondering... Where are these claims about DHL Aviation's cargo flights coming from? This may be their biggest hub, but there still needs to be proof of the flights. Very few of them are sourced, but WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT allow for flight trackers to be used as sources. Unfortunately, FlightAware[1] was only able to prove connections to places like Bahrain, East Midlands, Brussels, and Leipzig, a mere fraction of the flights claimed on the table.. Many others, like Moscow, Sydney, and Shanghai are completely unsourced, while Singapore has a source that does not include DHL anywhere. I feel like CVG has become free reign by this point and anybody can just come in, add a cargo flight, and nobody questions it.
