Adding her
[edit]I have added her to the Wiki-Wisconsin project since she was born in Wisconsin. Presently, unfortunately, she is missing. ProfessorPaul 22:57, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
I thought the woman that has climbed the most 8,000 plus summits by 2006 was Edurne Pasaban from Spain. Please see Ms. Pasaban's entry on Wikipedia. Does anyone knows who is the only woman alive that has climbed most 8,000

While the article correctly lists Christine as the American woman with the most 8000 meter ascents, Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner of Austria has climbed the most 8000 meter peaks as of the end of 2006 with a total of nine, her last being Kanchenjunga on May 14, 2006. Kaltenbrunner’s 8,000-meter accomplishments are:
1994 Broad Peak Foresummit 1998 Cho Oyu (1) 2000 Shishapangma Central Summit 2001 Makalu (2) 2002 Manaslu (3) 2003 Nanga Parbat (4) 2004 Annapurna (5) 2004 Gasherbrum I (6) 2005 Shishapangma Main Summit (7) 2005 Gasherbrum II (8) 2006 Kanchenjunga (9)
Please see http://www.climbing.com/news/hotflashes/kaltenbrunners9th/ for verification. MoonHermit, Estes Park, Colorado
Assessment comment
[edit]The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Christine Boskoff/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.
This page says Boskoff climbed more "summits" than any other female climber. Actually, summits aren't climbed. They are reached or achieved. Mountains are climbed. Moreover, are you including 14,000-ft (or 13,000 ft) mountains? If not, more specificity is needed re: her climbing resume. |
