Fan Websites
[edit]The fan website www.mrdaughtry.com should be listed because so far it is the most extensive fan website on Chris Daughtry including many pictures, videos, audio and news. It is not spam, it is necessary for anyone researching Chris Daughtry to have as many resources as possible, and I believe that fan site provides them.
- No, fansites are generally inappropriate. Please see WP:EL. --Yamla 17:15, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Many celebrity articles include fan sites. They provide good research material. "Fan sites: On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite is appropriate, marking the link as such. In extreme cases, a link to a web directory of fansites can replace this link. (Note: fanlistings are generally not informative and should not ordinarily be included.)"

[edit]What's going on with this statement? It needs to be cleaned up.
He passed the audition by a split decision: approved by Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, disapproved by Simon Cowell--actually, he was given a yes by Simon. Simon felt that Chris at that time was too robotic.
Was he given a yes by Simon or not?
I just watched a recording of the audition, and Simon gave him a no. BMetts 17:17, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Does anyone have a link to the interview cited here: "On March 3, 2006, judge Randy Jackson stated in an interview that Chris had been offered the opportunity to become Fuel's new lead singer."
- I added a link. Took about 10 seconds to find.
Thanks.

Source for the Johnny Cash performance
[edit]Is there any source that Chris reinterpreted Live's version? I don't see any that confirms nor deny this.
- If you've ever heard Live's version of the song, it's clear that his version is a carbon copy of Live. Anthony Hit me up... 15:44, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- That's still an opinion. No one admitted anything yet. Nor any response from Live. --SCSI Commando 16:26, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- Although these aren't official "admissions", I'm not the only one who realized he ripped off Live:

2/3 down the page March 23 entry Yahoo! News story. I think this is sufficient to remove the "neutrality" blocker from the page; if the news wires are reporting on it, it's enough. And I'd like to add that I'm not a fan of the show; I'm just a big Live fan who's watching them get disrespected by someone who says they're his favorite band, but won't give proper credit on the show when he blatantly steals their performance. Anthony Hit me up... 16:42, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- The article now claims that he acknowledged the Live inspiration in a taped set-up bit, but that it was edited out. Any source for this? Wasted Time R 17:10, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- The wires are just reporting what people are saying in the chat rooms. That's not proof of anything. The performances may be similar, but saying he based it on Live's version is NPOV; there's no proof of that anywhere. I changed the article to be more factual, and removed the unsourced stuff about the editing. Pfalstad 20:28, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- There's a transcript in the fan sites. Shouldn't Randy Jackson be the only one mentioned for praising originality? Paula and Simon only praised Chris for being what he is. --SCSI Commando 02:52, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

- You don't have proof that Daughtry didn't mention Live in his tape. Next time before you write something accusing somebody on Wikipedia, think with your brain instead of the money spent on Live's CDs.--wooddoo [[User_talk:Wooddoo-eng|Eppur si muove]] 16:06, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
He is 5'8"
His Height?
[edit]He seems unusually short...even shorter than Ryan Seacrest. It would be nice to see his hieght on his bio page. It can't be more than 5'4" or so.
- I think I heard somewhere describe him as being that height, but I'm not sure where it was... Michael 22:44, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Please be advised that I removed the entirely unsourced material about Sugar Ray seeking a new lead singer concerning Chris in reference to OTRS ticket number 2006051510011565. There is no evidence of this.
If you are a contributor or watcher to this article, please keep a watchful eye out for items such as these, and revert any unsourced information. Chris Daughtry is rather heavily in the public eye these days.

Heritage
[edit]I've read in various places that he's Irish, but none were official pages. Does anyone have a source for this (or for any other posible components of his heritage)? Michael 05:32, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Record Deal
[edit]It says here (http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002802312) that he signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/Arista, but the wikipedia article says BMG. I don't know much about it, so i do not want to change it myself.
- I just updated it, and I didn't even look at this talk page message until now. User:Arual 20:45, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
GA?
[edit]Is this a potential GA? It's got refs and all. íslenska hurikein #12 (samtal) 15:34, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- I would wait until Mr. Daughtry releases an album first, there's still more to be added to this article about his future success and achievements, if that happens. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. User:Arual 15:51, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, and we should also add what he's performed during the American Idol tour. I know there's some info in Elliot's article. íslenska hurikein #12 (samtal) 19:28, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Adam or Jacob?
[edit]Which is his middle name? Find a source for one, or end the revert war! Until you get a source, the name is out. Michael 22:08, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- The Greensboro News Record (March 22, 2007) says it is Jacob (perhaps they took it from an old version of the Wikipedia article?), but multiple other sources, such as the Sacramento Bee (August 19, 2007) and the New York Daily News (August 22, 2008) say it is Adam. Internet meme
[edit]So, I erased the internet meme section and someone readded it, so someone clearly thinks it is notable. Can someone please tell me why it is important/encyclopedic? BMetts 20:16, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- It isn't; it's a result of vandalism. Michael 18:59, 14 August 2006 (UTC) 20:21, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

American actor-singers
[edit]When was he an actor? Michael 05:52, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Anyone? Michael 05:52, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- He was in a television movie, on CBS, as a teen. If that counts? A lot of people seem to think it's someone else with the same name but how is that likely? I guess we don't know. User:Arual 14:13, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Performances
[edit]Why do Ace and Paris have those neatly arranged performances and judge comments boxes and Chris, THE Chris, hasn't?
- You can make one. Michael 03:18, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think Ace's performance box looks awful. The hiding/showing is tacky and when open, it is very hard to read. Chris' performance section is much better. -- Renesis (talk) 03:29, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]the Daughtry page is extremely short and could be merged into this page very easily. Pink moon 1287
- I think that by the time the CD or single comes out, it will be long enough to remain its own article. So, if there's any info out there not in the article, then it should be added asap. I'll look again. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 20:49, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Unacceptable, the Daughtry page will grow once the Cd and singles get publicity, and there are many band pages, but the singers and guitarists have other pages as well.
- Nay. The Daughtry page is much longer than many many album pages. ~Gertlex 13:42, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- Don't merge. Bands and its individual members should have different pages, given that they are notable, which he certainly is.--Esprit15d (talk ¤ contribs) 20:57, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Eye Shadow/Mascara Section
[edit]I think there should be a section devoted to his use of said products.
- First of all, you need a source that talks about "his use of said products." Secondly, if you don't sign, there is very little chance of anyone taking you seriously. --Smokizzy Review Me! (Please!) 14:13, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Introductory paragraph
[edit]Reguarding the sentence "He is also known as the fourth-place finalist on the highly publicized fifth season of American Idol, rejected from the competition on May 10, 2006."
I don't like the use of the word "rejected". Although it also says he finished in 4th place, "rejected from the competition" makes it sound like he was rejected from the auditions. I am changing it with "eliminated" if thats alright. MarkMc1990 21:16, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
I am not sure that we should engage in attempting to measure the relative successes of people without some standard for measurement. I noticed the of the past AmIdol participants listed, Jennifer Hudson is not present. However, I would wonder how she could not be one of the most successful of them all and certainly the most successful of those finishing outside the top 2. I would put her Oscar win against Daughtry's Grammy anyday. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 57.68.59.93 (talk) 16:31, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Chris Daughtry and Arsenal
[edit]I added extra information; Chris Daughtry is indeed an Arsenal fan and favorite player being Cesc Fabregas. This occurred on a show, wherein he was interviewed, called Nokia's Football Crazy. However, it seems the show only airs within Asia. The encyclopedic content I entered is verifiable.
Arquenevis (talk) 09:57, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Arquenevis
Well, I'm an Arsenal fan too, but I don't think that really matters enough to post it on the actual article. 71.241.91.35 (talk) 22:56, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Griffin/son
[edit]I found [1] which seems to start with a bio of his son but then morphs into something else, as clearly someone born in 1999 couldn't have picked up a guitar at age 10 yet or gone to college. Was going to list as reference for the kids but won't as there is too much false info to know if any is real. 'Post-Idol' Section
[edit]The tag is entirely appropriate; that section is terrible. It's essentially a trivia section but worded even more poorly than most. What is an 'African kid choir'? And 'the people of Uganda sang along with him' is wikipedia gold. Make sure that stays, no matter how much cleaning it gets. changed AI chart a little
[edit]Tthe American idol chart gave the date of his performances but not the context. So i added "top 24" all the way to top 4 because I feel that is the best way to put his performances in context with the show and of course the other contestants. So that is why I changed the article. Garynine (talk) 21:54, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Songwriters of "No Surprise"
[edit]Anons are repeatedly removing the songwriters Eric Dill and Rune Westberg from the list of collaborators, and other anon IP has restored the information. A lot of information here is said with no reference...
[edit]I see a lot being said here that attempts to be factual, but has given no reference whatsoever to anything in that section. One of the most major examples of this is most of the introduction, including: "Chris Daughtry is now the third most successful American Idol contestant in terms of record sales, behind only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood"
These pieces of information should at least be marked for reference needed, which I am not sure how to do. 98.234.173.35 (talk) 04:21, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
