I'll review this article late tonight or tomorrow. On a skim I'm leaning towards a fail, but I'll provide a detailed review so long as someone's willing to make the change; I ask since this appears to be a drive-by nomination. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 20:59, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here are my issues with the article:

  • There are quite a few deadlinks to fix: see [1].
  • The article as a whole is rather recentist. Each of the last several seasons on their own have more information than the period from 1993 to 1998. 1996, 1997, and 1998 in particular need expansion.
  • There's no information about his early life before high school. Certainly stuff on that can be found.
  • "Jones then played three years in the Braves' minor league system before making his major league debut." Since he spent three years in the minors, we can go into more detail than that.
  • A good chunk of 2000-05 is unsourced. 06, 07, and 08 are poorly sourced as well.
  • Single-digit numbers should be spelled out, i.e. "while slugging 7 home runs" or "the season 1st in the NL" would need fixing.
  • "2007 was another year of impressive feats by Jones" We can't have sentences like that in an encyclopedia article.
  • The personal life section has zero structure; it's just a bunch of one-sentence paragraphs tossed in somewhere.

It's not a bad article by any means, but this is just from a rather quick read. Had I done a detailed read this could have easily been four times larger. The main thing it needs is some TLC from a dedicated editor, someone who can cut through the fluff and boost up the good parts of the article. Needless to say, it can't be done in a week, so I have to fail this. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 04:07, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
