Future plans
[edit]The sentence "Further plans are being developed to extend the path from Wells to Shepton Mallet and then on to Cranmore with connecting paths. For details on all the future proposals visit the official Strawberry line web site at the bottom of this page." should not be placed after the references. I've added the first sentence to the Future plans section. The second sentence is not needed.— Rod talk 19:26, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- And I just reverted the re-insertion of both sentences a 3rd time :-( --TimTay (talk) 21:36, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Balance of article; and dubious undated assertions
[edit]There is a lot of stuff here that is unreferenced, referring to the present day. There is a sentence that makes me particularly uncomfortable: A roadsign in Draycott still bears the legend "Draycott Station 1/4 mile" (although the embossed letters are now painted over), and there are tunnels currently used as a bridges in Draycott and neighbouring Rodney Stoke. I don't see many roadsigns in Draycott nowadays that have embossed letters.
If the sign is still there we need a date, because it might or might not be in a year's time; a photograph and a location (not just "in Draycott") would be good if we can't find a cited work. As to what "there are tunnels used as a bridges" means, I have no idea. Afterbrunel (talk) 21:00, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- I seem to remember it on the A371 Wells Road pointing down Back Lane. But that would be Original Research. Perhaps a visit with a camera is due? Geof Sheppard (talk) 14:00, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Yatton to Witham
[edit]The scope of this article is unclear, but rightly tends towards everything between Yatton and Witham. I am making that more explicit. The East Somerset Railway article is dominated by the present day heritage activity and in any case a pedantic limitation to Yatton to Wells here would leave the short bit linking the two liens at Wells, built much later, without a home. Afterbrunel (talk) 21:05, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- The Cheddar Valley Railway is properly just Yatton to Wells. Witham to Cheddar was authorised as the East Somerset Railway - if changes are needed it is to get better balance in the latter article. Both the current usage (mostly cyclepath vs. partly operational and preserved) and the relative scarcity of through services between Yatton and Witham (those that did run often stopped at Wells for quite some time) both suggest that two articles here are better than one.
