Etymology of "charro"
[edit]So the adjectival meaning given here is:
- 1. (en México) (tradiciones/música) of the relating to the → charro
- 2. Latin America informal (de mal gusto) gaudy, garish
- (and here some other meanings also).
While the nounal meaning is:
- 1. → charro
- 2. (en México: jinete) horseman (masculine); horsewoman (feminine); cowboy {masculine}; cowgirl (feminine).
Presumably the meaning "cowboy" came first? But I can find no sources. I guess a good Spanish dictionary would provide this. Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:27, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
