. Alrighty then, with the caveat it was a 5x expansion, 1070 to 5567 characters but nominated eight days (April 18) from beginning of expansion (April 10). Open to second opinion and discussion on this question, though Second opinion Oks an IAR for timeliness. Good to go with original hook. Montanabw(talk)14:25, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's a little bit of a gray area, but in terms of new articles, it's when it moves from draft space. Trickier on a 5x expansion, not sure if the guidelines are exactly a monument to clarity. My suggestion in he future is to copypaste into your sandbox, expand, and then move it over in one fell swoop. Will give you more time. Montanabw(talk)16:25, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note to all: WP:DYKNEW specifically state, The seven-day limit can be extended for a day or two upon request. It's not an IAR situation, it's built in to the fabric of DYK. For expansions, the advice is solid: the clock starts running as soon as the initial expansion edit is made, and 5x is difficult enough. Sometimes the full expansion is so large (8x, 10x) that a later date than the first expansion edit can be chosen and still achieve a fivefold jump in size. If you're not quite at 5x but are sure you can get there soon, nominate after seven (or eight) days and then finish your work. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:06, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
