Perhaps some sentences in this article should be reviewed. I'm not a native English speaker but the following sentences don't sound very right to me..

A change in Hunter's style away from the organ sound into a more blues and distortion based sound happened at the same time.

Confirmation of the existence of the movie is pending and there is speculation that the soundtrack history of the album is an invention by the band members.

Lead

[edit]

I don't like the use of glowing quotes in the lead section. We're supposed to promote a summary/overview of the article, not a critical review in the lead. Save the critical commentary for a critical commentary section. Viriditas (talk) 09:38, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Minor Third?

[edit]

"After removing the 8th string, Hunter retuned all of the strings up a half step: F-A#-D# on the bass and A#-D#-G#-C on the guitar. As of 2008, he had once again retuned up a minor 3rd: G-C-F on the bass and C-F-A#-D on the guitar."

How is this retuning, up a minor third? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.115.191.30 (talk) 04:42, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. This is actually tuning up a major second. I would go as far as to say that outside of any harmonic context, it's even more appropriate to simply say "As of 2008, he retuned up another whole step..." If the intent was to say he had tuned up a minor 3rd from standard tuning, that would be accurate, but would need clarification. For example, "As of 2008, he had retuned up again, this time a minor 3rd from standard tuning..." I edited to read "...another whole step." Jataylor83 (talk) 06:27, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Musical Collaborations

[edit]

Not included in the article: Charlie Hunter performed on and co-wrote "In Repair" from John Mayer's 2006 album Continuum. [1] Jataylor83 (talk) 06:44, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am filmmaker Ben Makinen. COI: I have produced and directed two documentary films in which Charlie Hunter is featured. I am hopeful that editors will agree that the addition of a few simple facts pointing to his participation in these films is of biographical relevance. I am very new here and am attempting to stay safely within all guidelines. Please help me to accomplish what is just and right. Below I am going to add six references and two external references. Also please forgive any formatting errors in the request below: let me know how to make proper corrections, thanks. I am not familiar with the preferred formatting of the Filmography entries; for ex. I used the format I found on the wiki page for trumpeter Chet Baker: I have listed the date first, then title, then director, then the role that Hunter played, which is himself, a musician, but I notice that a different format has been employed here on Hunter's page.

  • Specific text to be added or removed: *(2021) JazzTown by Ben Makinen: musician
  • (2022) Who Killed Jazz by Ben Makinen: musician
  • Reason for the change: this is relevant data for biographical purposes
  • References supporting change: [1]
