[edit]This is article as it now stands is a completely distorted account of a man that lots of good evidence shows was an active homosexual. Jonathan Ned Katz, Director, OutHistory.org, Oct 11, 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jnkatz1 (talk • contribs) 01:31, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Plenty of evidence that he was a pedophile who sodomized boys. See the new Jack London bio "Wolf" by James Haley. 72.209.63.226 (talk) 00:15, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
This entry is completely misleading and inadequate
[edit]Stoddard was one of the most active, well-connected homosexuals of the 19th century U.S., and his writings clearly demonstrate his various intimacies with men. This entry, taken in large part from an old Catholic encyclopedia, is completely inadequate because it leaves out all the documentation and scholarly work that has been done on Stoddard.Jnkatz1 (talk) 19:54, 31 October 2010 (UTC) Jonathan Ned Katz

Stoddard's friendship with Mark Twain
[edit]I am reading 'Complete Mark Twain Collection (300+ Works)(Illustrated)' (Kindle ed.) and many references are made to the friendship between CWS and Mark Twain. I'm surprised that there is nothing of this in the article. They worked together in San Francisco at one point, and near as I can tell, were lifelong friends thereafter. I do not have the time to add this, maybe someone else does. 2600:6C5A:C7F:3109:B57D:36DD:5CBB:2C24 (talk) 22:10, 30 September 2021 (UTC)pwrgreg007
