Overcite
[edit]I think that many of the points are cited with too many references. Many of the references are interesting, and I am loath to remove good sources of information. It might be good to put a list of the useful ones here, so that they can be used for future page improvements. So as I remove them, I'm adding them here.Smmurphy(Talk) 03:04, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Adding a Filmography for Charles Burrell
[edit]I am filmmaker Ben Makinen. COI: I have produced and directed two documentary films in which Charles Burrell is featured.
I am hopeful that editors will agree that the addition of a few simple facts pointing to his participation in these films is of biographical relevance. I am very new here and am attempting to stay safely within all guidelines. Please help me to accomplish what is just and right. Below I am going to add six references. I do not yet know what the standard count is for something like this: I understand there may be more than are needed and that extras may simply be copied into this talk page and left off of the wiki page. Please understand that I am simply trying my best to provide enough verifiable and reliable sources. Also please forgive any formatting errors in the request below, this is my first one: let me know how to make proper corrections, thanks. I am not familiar with the preferred formatting of the Filmography entries; for ex. I used the format I found on the wiki page for trumpeter Chet Baker: I have listed the date first, then title, then director, then the role that Burrell played, which is himself, a musician.

- Thanks for your suggestion, and your concern with meeting all relevant guidelines, which is very much appreciated. In this case, there is not enough reporting in secondary sourcing on the subject matter, specifically Who Killed Jazz, to establish notability. Sources stating that a work exists are not sufficient, you will need to provide sources that write about those works.
- More importantly, neither of these additions would fit under the section heading "Filmography". While Burrell was the subject of these documentaries, he was (as far as I can tell) not substantially involved in their production. A more appropriate way to include them, if notability is sufficiently established, would be to mention them in another part of the article. Actualcpscm (talk) 18:07, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
