GA Review

[edit]
This review is transcluded from Talk:Cephalic Carnage/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
"The band dubbed their style 'Rocky Mountain hydro-grind'. Cephalic Carnage is also known for its humorous songs." Why not, "The band, which dubbed their style 'Rocky Mountain hydro-grind', is also known for its humorous songs." ? "Rocky Mountain hydro-grind" 'sounds humorous,' and fits with the next sentence.--Cannibaloki 18:36, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    B. MoS compliance:
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
    C. No original research:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
The section Exploiting Dysfunction and Lucid Interval (2000–2004) is very short, need to be expanded.--Cannibaloki 18:36, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    B. Focused:
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
    This article don't have images.--Cannibaloki 18:36, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
    Expand that section and I'll see.--Cannibaloki 18:36, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I expanded that section a bit, but I don't have sufficient sources that provide more information. The early history of the band has not been documented in detail. So I fused the first 2 subsections into 1. I think it is ok.

I did search in Flickr, but all the pictures over there are copyrighted. There is not much I can do about this. However, GA criteria do not require images if there are no available. So this should not be problem.

I hope this is satisfactory :) --  LYKANTROP  09:33, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, okay. Passed.--Cannibaloki 16:10, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

[edit]

Rather than get involved in an edit war between an Anon (72.37.244.28) and an established editor (Lykantrop), I figured I'd bring this up on the talk page. I agree with the Anon (despite his somewhat antagonistic tone), now that Zac isn't a member of the band, his picture doesn't really belong with the rest of the members. His picture in the gallery appears to give the misleading information that he's still involved with the band, as the gallery is located directly under the "Current Members" heading.

I'm also wondering why there isn't a picture of John Merryman? And lastly, why is there a gallery in the members section, and no band picture in the infobox at the top of the page?

I would suggest improving the page by:

  1. Adding a picture of the band to the infobox.
  2. Adding John Merryman's picture to the gallery.
  3. Removing Zac Joe's picture from the gallery. If necessary, a second gallery could be started under the "Former Members" heading to include his picture in the article, without it looking like he is still a current member.
  4. Instead of 2 and 3, simply removing the gallery. Its purpose would be covered by the picture in the infobox, and it doesn't seem to be very common to many band pages anyway.

I'm willing to do the work, but figured some discussion would be good first. Thoughts? MrMoustacheMM (talk) 22:45, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Greets. Well, I'll be very glad to see a picture of John Merryman in the gallery and I'll be pleased to see an encyclopedic image that depicts the whole band in the infobox. Of course feel free to add them! But please don't fuse the pictures from the gallery via photoshop for the infobox. That's not what we want, really. And please keep Zac Joe in the gallery. I don't remember ever seeing any rule indicating that an article should not illustrate past band members, especially not when it's a founding member/songwriter who has spent 18 years in the band. So please, be so kind and leave the picture as it is, because it illustrates the subject of the article and that's exactly what we want. By the way, I wonder how do you come to the conclusion that the picture "is located directly under the "Current Members" heading". What I can see is exactly the opposite.
I am looking forward for the new pictures of the whole band and John Merryman! Just let me know as soon as they're here :) --  LYKANTROP  23:24, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll look around this weekend, see what I can find! Here's how the page appears to me: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v330/MrMoustache/CCimage.jpg. This is why I think two galleries would be better, so there is no chance of confusion. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 00:06, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that the article is very demanding for readers' intelligence. I don't see any chance for confusion, since the text can't be clearer and the galery is transparent and simple. We don't expect readers to be 4 years old children who observe pictures and ignore the written mainstay of the article. When you have more pictures, you can experiment with the layout.--  LYKANTROP  09:02, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
