Etymology

[edit]
Strainer arches in the Bristol cathedral

The term is usually use to characterize the Galena bridge. What is the etymology? There are strainer arches of similar construction in cathedrals, but I was not able to locate any WP:RS. Neither was I able to find a link to open spandrel bridges, of which this is an extreme case. Викидим (talk) 22:15, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
