NYT quotation removed

I removed the NY Times quote about tax problems because: 1. The article cited goes on to say "other Democratic operatives and people who talked to the governor disputed that account". 2. AP article says "The state tax department said it could not find any problems with Kennedy's tax records." and "The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he said he wasn't authorized to speak for the governor, would not elaborate." In short, seems like this isn't reliable encyclopedic info, but published rumor. - Special-T (talk) 01:46, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

I agree. Tvoz/talk 07:10, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
OK. Grundle2600 (talk) 11:25, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

political views section

Donald Trump and Madonna don't have this section. She is no longer running for office, even unofficially, so this section is not appropriate. Should Jimbo Wales bio have his opinion on Israel? Of course not. Chergles (talk) 19:42, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

I agree. I've removed the section. Some of the views attributed to her there were poorly sourced as well. Steve.Murgaski (talk) 07:49, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
I disagree that it should be removed completely. She may not be running, but she is still a public figure with a fairly high profile political position and has made her views publicly known as reported on by reliable sources. If there are items that are poorly sourced or not notable, those can be addressed. - Maximusveritas (talk) 08:08, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
All the sources in that section are referring to her brief 2008 senate campaign. They're not her "political views" as expressed over a long period. They may not have been her views in 2008 either, since most or all of them came through spokespeople.
The information could be worked into the section on her 2008 senate campaign. But the article should be more accurate about which views were expressed by her directly. The quotes attributed to her in that section are not supported by the sources given. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Steve.Murgaski (talkcontribs) 23:43, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
Ok, that makes sense. I'll take a stab at doing that. - Maximusveritas (talk) 02:05, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Confusion concerning Caroline Kennedy's undergraduate college

The article states that Caroline Kennedy graduated from Radcliffe College, and the Infobox states that she graduated from Harvard University. There is a mistake somewhere, because Kennedy could not have undergratuated from both colleges.

Anthony22 (talk) 16:02, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

I just fixed it. According to our own article, Harvard and Radcliffe gave out joint diplomas, but we might as well state clearly where she studied. Joshdboz (talk) 16:16, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
See the first entry in Archive 1 of this page. By the 1970s, Harvard and Radcliffe students had been taking the same classes (i.e., actually attending the same school) for quite a while. Right around 1975, all diplomas would have said "Harvard/Radcliffe". Also, since Harvard College and Radcliffe College were both part of the larger Harvard University, the infobox wasn't necessarily incorrect, just not as specific as it might have been. It would be legit to say she graduated from either one (the tail end of their merger had to do with financial workings, and nothing to do with academics) - the only problem would be choosing to say "Radcliffe" in order to imply that she didn't "really" attend Harvard. - Special-T (talk) 20:11, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Aaah, that sounds like a mini-POV quagmire. I adjusted it to Harvard-Radcliffe in the infobox. Joshdboz (talk) 20:37, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Vatican

I've removed this because it needs some work:

In 2009, she was suggested for the post of Vatican ambassador, although press reports later indicated that she had been turned down for the position because of her political support for abortion.
(ref Vatican blocks Caroline Kennedy appointment as US ambassador )

The problem is that the Obama administration denies having floated Ms Kennedy--or anybody--for the role. The Vatican has corroborated this. Apparently it was a journalist with a bad source.

Caroline Bouvier Kennedy Is Named After Her Mother's Sister Caroline Lee Bouvier Radziwill And Not Her Maternal Great - Grandmother Caroline Ewing Bouvier,So Please Go Back And Change It,Thank You.69.174.132.172 (talk) 00:05, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Wrong. Her maternal great-grandmother is her mother's mother's mother, which would be Janet Lee Bouvier's mother, which is revealed by the article to be Margaret A. Merritt, which is clearly dissimilar to Caroline. Georgia guy (talk) 00:35, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
For clarity, Caroline Maslin Ewing was the wife of John Vernou Bouvier, Sr., and they were the patrilineal great-grandparents of Jacqueline Lee "Jackie" Bouvier. Caroline's maternal great-grandmothers were Maude Frances Sergent (Bouvier side) and Margaret A. Merritt (Lee side), though Margaret was her matrilineal great-grandmother. Andersen citation

In passing, I noticed that this IP edit directly contradicts a cited statement, while relying on the same citation. I don't have the book—maybe someone else will be interested enough to check it out. Cheers, Bjenks (talk) 05:31, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Don't have the book, but did find this link to an interview with JFK Jr where he describes their relationship as close in 1996. Given that and that this was an IP edit with no substantiation of their change in a BLP, I went ahead and reverted it. - Maximusveritas (talk) 06:07, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
