Notability
[edit]Notabilty is claimed for this band on the following grounds on WP:MUSIC
- Reviewed by national press (EW)
- Representative of a particular sub-genre (pirate rock)
Further; I am in no way associated with the band. --EngineerScotty 05:31, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
- Notability requires multiple reviews; please find another beside the one-para EW bit. Also, what is pirate rock? This band appears to be a themed/novelty children's group with some ironic crossover appeal. Maybe that's notable, but making up a label "pirate rock" isn't. jnestorius(talk) 09:02, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Pirate metal is a sub-genre, and so is pirate rock; neither is a "made-up label". Both of these are sometimes categorized together within "pirate core". Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it's "made-up" (although every concept in existence is "made up", so that phrase itself is just weasel words). Some evidence that these are actual popular phenomena:

- The Guardian article "Scene and heard: Pirate metal" : https://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2009/aug/03/scene-and-heard-pirate-metal

Iannotti guitar
[edit]I've just noticed that the page cradits Paul Iannotti with piano and vocals, but in the second pand picture he's playing a guitar. What gives? --66.241.72.237 01:57, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ignore the picture. :) He's credited with piano and vocals on the album liner notes--the reliable source in this instance (the intrument listings were taken from there)--and in fact, he does play keyboard (and the melodica) and sing in live performances. He did play guitar in Pirate Jenny; but I've never seen him pick up a guitar for Bogg and Salty. --EngineerScotty 03:12, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
No longer?
[edit]Connecting the dots and jumping to conclusions, it seems like the Disney contract they signed forbade them from continuing as an independent band. - Richfife (talk) 20:58, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
Official Website - Archive copy located
[edit]When repairing a citation with a missing url I found that the link is NOT the official site but rather a tribute site by a former member of the band put up after the main site went down.
Here is the real deal site in archive
