The demographic/social situation has changed not radically, but significantly, since people from neighbouring Angolan regions have flocked into the Caprivi Strip by the thousands, fleeing from the anti-colonial war (1961 to 1974) and the ensuing (and partly overlapping) civil war (until 2002). --193.136.189.1 (talk) 16:50, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Environment and Natural Resources

[edit]

I suggest adding something about the conservation of the area and the projects that work with local communities through conservancies and community forests. I have added the basics of the three national parks that occur there.

I feel that the reference to the Zambezi River being important to the Namibian Government be altered. It was a main motivation to the German Government aquiring the Caprivi in the late 1800's, but not of much consequence today. It is, however, extremely important as the 'heart' of the KAZA Transfrontier park. I am happy to do the update if required. --Stralitzia (talk) 11:54, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

where the German colony Tanganyika was situated (the river later proved unnavigable)

link on Tanganyika goes to a page which says

Tanganyika /ˌtæŋɡənˈjiːkə/ was a sovereign state that existed from 1961 until 1964.

which doesn't accord with the times in this article. NotYourFathersOldsmobile (talk) 04:25, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
