Gilmore not executed in Florida
[edit]The first two paragraphs of the article imply that Gary Gilmore was executed in the State of Florida. He was executed in Utah by firing squad. Florida had nothing to do with it. John Paul Parks (talk) 06:54, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Short list?
[edit]Does anyone have access to the 'short list' of death-warrant ready inmates compiled by the Commission on Capital Cases that the governor is using to decide who gets their death warrant signed next? smb2a (talk) 00:39, 22 Oct 2008 (UTC)
- No, but here is a link to the total list of death row inmates: [1] Niteshift36 (talk) 02:31, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
"Crimes punishable by death" inconsistent
[edit]"Currently, Florida's capital crimes are:[2]
- First-degree murder
- Felony murder[3]
- Capital drug trafficking"
"...the United States Supreme Court in Kennedy v. Louisiana limited the death penalty to only crimes which result in an individual's death or crimes against the state ..."
and there should be a link to the wording of the law —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.246.7.9 (talk) 16:56, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- You should have read further. The majority opinion states clearly: "Our concern here is limited to crimes against individual persons. We do not address, for example, crimes defining and punishing treason, espionage, terrorism, and drug kingpin activity, which are offenses against the State." There is no inconsistency, you just stopped reading too early. Niteshift36 (talk) 00:08, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Pedro Medina
[edit]The article on Mariel boatlift included this text:
"Pedro Medina, convicted of the 1982 stabbing of Dorothy James in Florida. His case attracted nationwide media coverage when the device used to executed Medina, Florida State Prison's long-decommisioned electric chair Old Sparky, malfunctioned, causing his head to catch fire. This had happened once before with the execution of Jesse Tafero in 1990 and once again with the execution of Allen Davis in 1999. After the Davis execution, Florida built a new chair. In 2000, they introduced lethal injection as an optional method of execution. Since then, all executions in the state of Florida have been performed by lethal injection, although electrocution can be administered at the request of the prisoner."
I have reduced. I am not sure if there is any more that should be incorporated here. -- Beardo (talk) 04:14, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Pre-1979
[edit]I recognize that 1979 was an important date as the first post-moratorium execution, but why is there no list of individuals executed prior to the moratorium? Emperor001 (talk) 22:17, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
