Splitting

This subject needs some splitting and sorting. Today, this page handles the group, several television channels etc. I propose that the information gets splitted and moved:

What does the community think? Väsk 16:55, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

I Agree, but canal+ should also explain Canal+Hi-tech,Thewikipedian 11:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
I've mentioned Canal+ Hi-tech on the new page. Now, this page is describing the French channel, but I've included a section about the European sisters so that they can be found easily. I'm storing the remaining parts from the previous page here temporarly. Väsk 13:47, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Modification

Alright. As a french citizen, I have stuff to precise : -Canal + is based on cinema and sport. During a long time, it has been the only way to watch major football events (champions league and french league). This channel succeeds in offering a really precise comments and analyses. - Concerning the movies, canal+ is the only way to watch american and more global major film. This company is buying "major" movies such as the Bourne stuff, some french well known movies and also series such as 24 or Desperate Houswives. This company also have a big production mission on the european market - Concerning the most thorny issue : "l'esprit canal" or the canal spirit. Hard to explain but canal + is promoting a TV new generation. The audience is supposed to be the upper class with a "left wing feeling". The atmosphere is supposed to be more "modern" and more transgressive without being trash. It is high quality TV proposing sometimes deep investigative reportages and well known talk shows (Nul part ailleurs and now Le grand journal) in "clear" so not encrypted.

Hope I helped a little bit. The french article should be transcribe but my english is not good enough so I cannot do that… Sorry. Canal + is a major channel on the french TV and also a really specific one so please work on that, it is a major part of the french culture (not the food and other clichés, the real french culture)

Here's another question. How do people in the DOM-TOM get Canal+? -DanCBJMS via 134.117.168.238 18:34, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Easy, they simply subscribe, receive a box and then watch !

Canal+ Quebec

Does canal+ quebec actually exist? I can't seem to find a website devoted to it. Also Canal+ Roamandie should be moved to European sister channels.--Fantastic fred (talk) 19:25, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

I really don't know but actually, I am pretty sure no. Ernest
I looked up "canal+" because that logo shows up as a co-producer for many 'foreign' films. I would guess that they give a little funding for a production in exchange for the right to show it on their TV channel. Can this be verified? Skipper2 (talk) 06:13, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
True ! Canal has a production part through studio canal. It must be add for sure ! Ernest

Canal+Canal+ (French TV channel) – This article is too easily confused with the Groupe Canal+ or related article, and I suspect that a lot of the incoming links should rightly link to the latter. It would entail quite a bit of work, but I think this would be better as a DAB, with all of the various Canal+ subsidiaries listed on it. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 04:25, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

I agree that the page should be moved for similar reasons, however I think the page name should be Canal+ (French TV channel) to differentiate from the other regional alternatives to Canal+.
Overall the Groupe Canal+, Canal+ and Canal+ (Polish TV channel) pages need to be heavily updated so I’d say a focus needs to be placed on that first before worrying about page names and such which are quite low priorities while looking at the bigger picture of these pages. Recent overhaul

I have been trying to knock the two articles for the group and for this channel into shape, although I am still not entirely sure of the corporate structure. If anyone has a better knowledge about the "sister channels", please advise and/or add to the article. I removed some from the table that are not mentioned on the main website, and just left the Canal+ branded ones. I'm not too sure why there are two football channels shown, when I can only see one - can anyone advise, please? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 03:55, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
