Failed "good article" nomination

[edit]

This article failed good article nomination. This is how the article, as of May 22, 2007, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?: This is the biggest area of failure. Rock should be lowercase in the lead paragraph. There should be a comma after "2002 album." This sentence:

It is the only track on By the Way which revisits the original Chili Peppers method of short rapped verses; entailing fewer amounts of implemented texture, that much of the aforementioned album contains.

has grammar issues. First, a semi-colon separates to distinct (though related) sentences. The second half is not a sentence. Also, entailed is used incorrectly in that sentence, and doesn't really make any sense. There also needs to be a comma after the word short. In this sentence: Can't Stop is unique, there needs to be quotes around "Can't Stop." "7th" needs to be spelled out. "four-some" is one word (foursome). This sentence:

Things included in the video (but not limited to):

should actually read: "Activities in the video include (but are not limited to): The part that says "white letters, reading:" should say "white letters read," Also "Aspects on the lighting were" should read "The lighting was" In the heading "Greatest Hits Controversy" only the first word should be capitalized, and the same goes for "Composition and Lyrical Denotation." "fan-favorite song" should read "favorite songs" Overall this article needs a thorough copyediting for punctuation, correct word usage, and grammar.
2. Factually accurate?: Some effort has been put into citing references, and that is commendable. However, more work remains. This sentence

The song influenced various other Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts, respectively.

needs to have a citation proving that this is true. Or it needs to be removed. Also, pretty much all the claims in the subheading "Greatest hits controversy" are unverified, and sometimes speculative (for example "which leads one to believe").
3. Broad in coverage?: Not bad here.
4. Neutral point of view?: There are a few neutrality issues in this article. This sentence:

It is the seventh song on the recording, and a favorite amongst fans.

is biased (not NPOV) and the citation behind the statement only proves that one fan liked it (the man with the beard).
5. Article stability? Great - no edit wars, just dedicated edits by editors.
6. Images?: The images are all good, with fair use rationales and source info. However, the placement leaves gaps of white in the article. I recommend moving one of them around some.

When these issues are addressed, the article can be resubmitted for consideration. If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to take it to a GA review. Thank you for your work so far. — Esprit15d (talk ¤ contribs) 14:08, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Can't Stop.JPG

[edit]

Image:Can't Stop.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
