Similarity to Brie
[edit]A recent edit removed, "It is similar to Brie, which is native to the Brie region of France." from the introduction. Not wishing to start an edit war, I have not reverted this good faith edit. Unfortunately the edit was wrong. Brie and Camembert are certainly different. (I much prefer Camembert myself.) But they are similar. Unless someone comes up with a compelling argument here, I'll reinstate that sentence with a citation. OrewaTel (talk) 05:02, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
- I agree, it *is* similar to Brie, but I support the removal of the phrase. I would argue that this fact is not, in itself, notable. Lots of things are similar to other things. There are many other soft, white-rinded cheeses that could also be said to be similar - I don't think it adds anything useful to the reader to draw attention to these similarities. nutrition fact

This Article Needs to be Rewritten
[edit]This article is about Camembert cheese which is officially only from Normandy France and controlled by the AOC (Appellation d'origine controlee) of France meeting certain standards of production. Furthermore, Camembert-like cheeses produced outside of Normandy are considered fake cheeses, even if from other parts of France. That said, this article should have a section on Camembert cheeses made outside of Normandy, since it is widely produced in various countries around the globe. However, the conditions that define its manufacture in Normandy should be mentioned in the article and set apart from the other methodologies that are used around the world. Unfortunately, this article is an assortment of considerations that have been mismatched from an array of references that essentially make the information in this article wildly and irresponsibly incorrect. Essentially, this article needs to be reorganized to include the AOC versions and include the other international versions separately. As it stands now, they are both so conflated in content and references, that much of the information is incorrect and unusable. Stevenmitchell (talk) 06:37, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
