Sixth album

[edit]

For the sake of consistency, we're calling it the sixth album, not seventh, because Bastard (Tyler, the Creator mixtape) is considered a mixtape. See the footnote on Igor (album). If you want to change this, gain consensus on the talk page for the change on all Tyler album articles, don't just blindly change it without agreement. Mcguy15 (talk, contribs) 17:48, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mcguy15: This happens every time Tyler release his albums, there always be a debate about Bastard considered as an album, just because he says it is. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 19:12, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In the critical reception column, add “Paste Magazine, 8.7/10”

Under Critical Response, add “Paste Magazine’s Matt Mitchell gave Call Me If You Get Lost an 8.7/10, and said the crowning achievement of the record is ‘the way it sharply reminds every listener that the early entries in an artist’s discography are not parts of their past meant to be forgotten.’ Tnhc0415 (talk) 06:48, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In the 2nd paragraph of Critical Response, please add:

“Paste Magazine’s Matt Mitchell gave Call Me If You Get Lost an 8.7/10, and said ‘the recklessness of [Tyler’s] 20s did not leave him among the ruins of early-2010s hip-hop, but rather has helped make him a 30-year-old with a multi-million-dollar confidence and a Rolls Royce collection to flaunt—in an industry praying just to catch up.’”

change "is the sixth studio album" to "is the seventh studio album" (you can find it in the first sentence of the article) since he has previously produced six albums and "Call Me If You Get Lost" is his seventh album. Eckilix (talk) 18:07, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Verified media notes

[edit]

The "media notes" credit section and, in turn, the writing and sample "credits" that accompany this article are up for questioning. I suggest removing the latter two sections until Tyler posts the official album credits on social media or physical copies with credits come out. The only official form of verification we have are the nearly complete "Lumberjack" credits and the brief album credits, both of which are from Tidal.

Funnylittleman (talk) 04:38, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Funnylittleman: The album's credits are from the CD release, somebody even take a picture of it on Reddit. Sometimes Tidal don't always have the full credits available. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 04:56, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New song

[edit]

Yesterday tyler made a song with Pharrell Williams 174.242.192.84 (talk) 21:45, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The song, which I think you're referring to is Come On, Let's Go, is not on CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST. This song was under the I Know Nigo album so it wouldn't be necessary to be placed here. Sandwichcipher (talk) 21:39, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cover Art Variations

[edit]

Like Tyler's previous album, IGOR, there's four different color variations of the cover art on streaming platforms. The yellow variation of the cover art being on Apple Music, Green being on Spotify, Red being on Tidal, and the Blue variation on YouTube. Should this also be mentioned on the article? I also think the alternative cover art should be in the template as well. Sandwichcipher (talk) 21:37, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was just about to say this! I think a sentence or two talking about it beforehand in the Release and Promotion section of the article and the four variations being shown beside it would be best. angerygoomba (talk) 12:41, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Signed as Wolf Haley?

[edit]

In the Artwork section of Personnel, Wolf Haley is credited as working on the song, I'm pretty sure this is a minor joke added by someone, as this is Tyler's alter ego in his Wolf album. (The link on "Wolf Haley" links to Tyler's wikipedia article.) Should I edit this to say Tyler's name?

Vinyl Cover

[edit]

Just like the albums before it, Call Me If You Get Lost has an alternate cover for the vynl edition. So I think that should be included like how the Igor, Flowerboy, etc articles include their alts as well. 97.116.188.4 (talk) 20:13, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Complex Media Company Description Addtion

[edit]

In the "Rankings" section of the article, the authors outline that Tyler the Creator's Call Me if You Get Lost was ranked number one in Complex's edition of best albums of 2021 yet fail to include any critical acclaim from team members in the "Critical Reception" section of the article. I would like to add the following excerpt to give context for why Call Me If You Get Lost was chosen as the number-one album by this urban youth-centered media company, and specifically what characteristics of Tyler the Creator's sound and evolution of this album caused Complex's editors to regard it so favorably. I propose this addition to the "Critical Reception" section:

Complex Magazine's Eric Skelton described Call Me If You Get Lost as "......the most complete album of his career so far, as he puts sugary pop anthems like “Sweet / I Thought You Wanted to Dance” on the same tracklist as storytelling rap songs like “Wilshire” and “Massa.” He pulled together all the pieces on this one" describing the artist's artful blend of rap and melody.

I am new to editing on the platform of Wikipedia and would much appreciate feedback and commentary. Thank you for viewing my post.

Baudelaire

[edit]

@TheAmazingPeanuts and @Mogery: I believe it is pretty clear from the video linked by Mogery that Tyler was referencing A Series of Unfortunate Events and not Charles Baudelaire when he chose the name for the Tyler Baudelaire character. It wouldn't make sense to include anything about Charles Baudelaire considering Tyler explicitly said that's not what the name references, but I'm also not sure about whether or not including the YouTube video would violate any WP guidelines, even if it is reliable. There are a lot of other articles here (mainly JPEGMafia) that seem to use a lot of YouTube videos for citations, but I'd like to hear both of your opinions first. TunaUnited StatesVeniVidiVici 19:52, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not familiar with WP guidelines either, but a video of the artist explaining the logic behind their album's concept seems like a better source to me that some random journalist speculating with zero factual certainty. Mogery (talk) 22:21, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Looked into it, and as far as I understand, video sources are reliable as primary sources, as long as there is no original research being done. I've gone ahead and reverted the undo provisionally. Mogery (talk) 09:23, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mogery: YouTube is not a reliable source (WP:ALBUMAVOID). If you can find a better source, then there is no reason to change the article. Know the rules. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 12:40, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TheAmazingPeanuts This is stupid. It is literally the artist talking about the topic. How is that unreliable? How is citing incorrect pseudonymous speculative "journalists" (rap bloggers) better? Mogery (talk) 13:19, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TheAmazingPeanuts Also, YouTube's entry on ALBUMAVOID mentions not using the auto-generated text under YouTube Music uploads, not the videos themselves. Mogery (talk) 13:22, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mogery: Since I didn't find a third-party source to support the video, I have restored it. While YouTube is considered an unreliable source, in most cases it can be used if a third-party source doesn't exist. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 14:51, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I expanded on the reference with the context that was previously in the now removed lead part. Mogery (talk) 14:55, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
