General Question
[edit]Should this article feature the land claim the native people are protesting about?
- It's now discussed under "History," with a link to the main article at Caledonia occupation. Samaritan 00:42, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
June 13, 2006. Someone added "The Protest", which came from a very one sided view. Edits today attempt to balance that view. Should all references be redirected and a balanced , objective view of Caledonia which includes Six Nation's history, famous people etc. be created?
Oasis?
[edit]Under attractions, Oasis is mentioned, but linked to general oasis article. This place isn't exactly in the middle of a desert. Some explaination is required.
-jptdrake
- I changed the link to Oasis (restaraunt).
Why is this even allowed to be on here?
[edit]Who wrote this? This page is bewilderingly awful. This should just be taken down altogether if its going to be this bad. There's maybe 3 salvageable sentences here; the rest is clearly biased and the grammar is abhorrent.
Prime Minister
[edit]I remember reading a early Prime Minister taught in Caledonia, anyone want to look into it?
Extreme POV
[edit]This article is so extremely biased to the side of the native occupiers, that it provides incorrect information. The information is so inaccurate that it can not be used as a valid source of knowledge, which damages the credibility of Wikipedia as whole.
- It's gone now. But it was extreme on both sides.
The land dispute section of this article still seems incredibly biased in favour of the natives. It paints the other side as neo-nazi racists who hate natives "regardless of the issues". Andn that's beside the complete lack of sources. MatttK (talk) 03:02, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Famous People
[edit]Famous people should have their own page, the Lukas O'Reilly doesn't even go to the right person, and Ashley Coles doesn't have her own page, both are being removed.
Flatbush, Ontario?
[edit]What is this? I've never heard of it and it isn't explained. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.244.247.34 (talk) 21:13, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Ken Thompson (the artist)
[edit]I am hoping someone can provide me with some information on Ken Thompson the artist (Impressionist.) I understand, he was from Caledonia.

Link to Land Dispute?
[edit]There should be a link to the caledonia land dispute article at the bottom under "see also", which is why I came here, and it took me forever to find the actualy acrticle on the issue since I didn't know what name to look for. I'm not sure the protocol for adding that so I'm not going to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.128.44.222 (talk) 02:44, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
It appears that some people don't like the information about the land dispute to appear in the article. Liek it or not, it is part of the history of Caledonia. I've added material back about the dispute in the history section. It's a short summary and anybody who wants more detail can follow the wikilink to the main article. -- Whpq (talk) 14:20, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Lorrie Burke a long-time school mate and friend is losing her home say the MTO. Lorrie home is also A Canada's Historic Place, for some of yous on my facebook not familiar with this home I have included a photo post. If anyone knows how to help Lorrie save not just A Canada’s Historic Place but her home, please help. HARCOURT EXPROPRIATION – SUMMARY • Lorrie Harcourt has owned and lived in her home at 4 Argyle Street, Caledonia since 1986. • Residing in her home is a tenant with accessibility issues, at times her adult children and at times her grandchildren who live with her as an alternative to living in foster care. • This home to Ms. Harcourt is also used for her hairdressing business, as it is conveniently located in a prominent location in downtown Caledonia. • In 2014, Ms. Harcourt was approached by the Ministry of Transportation for Ontario (“MTO”), as it required access and interests in her property to facilitate its reconstruction of the bridge along Argyle Street crossing the Grand River (the “Works”). • Between 2014 and 2019, MTO sought access to Ms. Harcourt’s property and maintained that it required temporary and limited interests in her property to carry out its works. • MTO required access to her property, but refused to compensate Ms. Harcourt for such interests in the property as would be payable for lands that were acquired in accordance with the Expropriations Act. Ms. Harcourt was willing to grant this access, so long as she was given due process and fair compensation as is required by the Expropriations Act. • MTO stated that if Ms. Harcourt would not give access on its terms, it would expropriate her entire property and take away her home. • MTO is now proceeding to a hearing on June 21, 2019 for approval to expropriate Ms. Harcourt’s entire property, although its own documents and admissions show that it only requires temporary and limited interests over portions of her property for monitoring during its construction. This means it does not have to take her entire home. • Although Ms. Harcourt is prepared to grant access on terms that are fair, MTO is not prepared to agree to such terms and is going to a hearing to take her entire home. • Ms. Harcourt is concerned that the compensation MTO offers will not enable her to relocate and will, therefore, leave her in a situation where she may not have a home for herself, her long-term tenant, her adult children and her grandchildren. • MTO has not provided any assurances on how she will be able to relocate, whether compensation will allow her to relocate or whether it will be paid in way so that she can have a replacement property before possession of her current home is taken. • Ms. Harcourt is not looking for a windfall from MTO, but simply wishes to keep her home, business and lifestyle. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.91.226.222 (talk) 23:44, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
