"About thirty percent of the estimated 2.5 million slaves taken from Africa to the new world, passed through the her sea port."

I deleted this; the number of slaves sent from Africa as part of the transatlantic slave trade was closer to 10 million, and 30% did not even come from the Bight of Biafra, let alone Calabar.

This page say i am correct, as do many other pages. stating they came from calabar was a reference to the port of exit, not their ethnicity. the bulk of them were very likely igbo —Preceding unsigned comment added by Obongg (talkcontribs) 14:03, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Should we really show the slums as the top picture on the page? Sure, slums might make up most of the city, but slums also make up most of Mumbai and we don't show the slums anywhere on that article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.30.64.138 (talk) 00:40, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is...

[edit]

What is "They were the creators of basketball, synb, keechabu, and spugus"? Not only is this unsourced (what about Naismith?), but "synb, keechabu, and spugus" needs an explanation for English speakers who aren't familiar with the culture.Matttoothman (talk) 15:19, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Calabar

[edit]

Akwa Akpa tells "The coast in this region was named "Calabar" by the Portuguese explorer Diogo Cao.[5] ". This should be added into this article as well. --91.152.66.251 (talk) 16:32, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Calabar. Please take a moment to review my edit. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
