Warning: Factual Error
[edit]Although it is otherwise an authoritative source, The Victorian Heritage Register incorrectly identifies that Cairo Flats comprises of 28 bachelor flats. An article advertising Cairo Flats in The Argus Newspaper (at the time of completion) also incorrectly states that Cairo contains 40 bachelor flats. Both are wrong. In fact, it comprises of 26 studio flats and 10 one-bedroom flats for a total of 36 flats in the building. Significant revisions to the plans and design occurred, including during construction, and this may help explain how such a large factual error still exists on an official document regarding the heritage and history of the building.
