this should be conductivity, temperature, density.

Not according to one of the cited refs, which says, "... a CTD, which stands for conductivity, temperature, and depth." Meters (talk) 20:12, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

D is not for density. D is for depth, based on pressure measurements — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.128.73.8 (talk) 15:03, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A "sonde" is not limited to in-water use, nor the functions of a CTD. E.g. an "Ozone Sonde"

Given this, I've completed the merge of Sonde (electronics) to a mixture of CTD (instrument) and Sonde, as relevant. Klbrain (talk) 12:15, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also, "CTD" is for "Conductivity", "Temperature", and "Depth" - not Density, as noted above. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.52.138.165 (talk) 17:00, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
