The end of Byzantine rule?

[edit]

I have just copy edited this article. It is a really good set of information, but seems to me weak on how Byzantine rule ended. If someone has sources on the Arab raids, the slow crumbling of Byzantine suzerainty, the various Arab attempts at invasion and eventual conquest and could add a summary here it would be helpful. There is also information at History of Sardinia which could be usefully copied. Gog the Mild (talk) 15:24, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gog the Mild, unfortunately there are few sources of that period however it is supposed that the Archon of Sardinia become virtually independent de facto from Constantinople between 8-10th century. Later, in the 11th century, after the repulsed Arab raid led by Mugeto, the island appear subdivised in four parts, the so called Giudicati...I agree that some informations from History of Sardinia and Giudicati pages could be copied here --Xóil (talk) 19:13, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest that it is better to put something in, even if poorly sourced, than to just leave a gap. My understanding is that there were 200 years of Arab raids, attempted invasions, and slow takeover, whilst other Mediterranean powers sporadically involved themselves. Perhaps we could just put a sentence or two outlining this? Gog the Mild (talk) 21:15, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have added some English sources to the bibliography, some available online. Hopefully one day this will get published. I may come back to edit the article if I have the time. Srnec (talk) 00:20, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
