The company’s products are categorized within Commercial Lines, Personal Lines and Professional Lines sectors.[7] History[edit]In 1996, Alan Jay Kaufman took H.W. Kaufman Group and its largest subsidiary, Burns & Wilcox, private.[8] No one named "Burns" nor "Wilcox" was involved in the founding or growth of the company; the name was chosen by Herbert W. Kaufman because he thought it carried a strong professional undertone. Products[edit]Burns & Wilcox offers specialty insurance services for brokers and agents[9], offers excess and surplus lines of insurance[10] and works with admitted and non-admitted carriers.[11] The company also offers personal liability, commercial property, transportation, recreation, environmental, risk management and professional liability, among other services.[12] H.W. Kaufman Group[edit]H.W. Kaufman Group is the parent company of Burns & Wilcox.[13] The company generates more than $2 billion in annual revenue,[14] has over 2,000 employees[15] and is comprised of the following companies: [16]
In 2018, H.W. Kaufman Group ranked 12th in the Crain’s Detroit Business "Fast 50" companies for revenue growth. [17] Alan Jay Kaufman[edit]Alan Jay Kaufman serves as Chairman, President and CEO of H.W. Kaufman Group, headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan.[18] He also is founding senior partner of Kaufman, Payton & Chapa, a Detroit and Farmington Hills law firm.[19] In 1996, Kaufman purchased the company from his father and its other shareholders.[20] Under his leadership, both H.W. Kaufman Group and the companies in its portfolio reached $2 billion in revenue in 2016. </ref> The company generates more than $2 billion in annual revenue,[21] Burns & Wilcox, H.W. Kaufman Group’s flagship company has generated over $1.5 billion in annual premium. [22] Ernst & Young selected Alan Jay Kaufman as a regional winner in their Entrepreneur of the Year program for the Michigan and Northwest Ohio Business Services category in 2011. [23] Insurance Market Source[edit]Burns & Wilcox publishes Insurance Market Source magazine (formerly titled Agents Market Source) that examines industry trends, marketing strategies and product spotlights. The magazine features articles written by Burns & Wilcox employees as well as outside industry sources and is distributed once a year, as well as in an online format that publishes new articles weekly. Partnerships[edit]In 2017, Burns & Wilcox signed a deal with Olympia Entertainment and the Detroit Red Wings. [24] In 2018, the firm announced its sponsorship of the Detroit Red Wings co-captain Justin Abdelkader. [edit]- Please be sure to fill out the
|quote=
parameter within the reference template. For each reference entry, please locate the material within the source which verifies the claim statement and add it to the parameter as a quote. - The request states "I have outlined the proposed edits below by section". Worded this way, the proposal does not indicate that the article is to be replaced in its entirety, rather, it indicates that edits are to be processed section by section. A verbatim description of the text which is to be removed ought to be provided to ensure that nothing is removed or remains which was not wanted.
- Additional information/feedback pertaining to your request:
- The contents of the HW Kaufman section will likely not be added. This information concerns minor subdivisions[a] of the company which are largely unreferenced.
- The Insurance Market Source section will likely not be added, as it is unreferenced.
- The lead section ought to be reduced by placing the information on the various divisions under History. Likewise, the section under Alan Jay Kaufman should be subsumed under the History section.
- Publications which are connected to the insurance industry should not be used as references. These would be better placed coming from outside that industry, to assure that the information they are referencing is independent in tone and coverage.
Once the requested elements are ready to be provided, please open a new {{request edit}}
template or alter the prior template's answer parameter to read from |ans=yes
to |ans=no
. Please note that any new posts or requests should be placed after this reply post, in order to ensure the chronological flow of the page from top (oldest) to bottom (newest); also be sure to remember signing all posts and requests by adding 4 tildes ~~~~
at the end of your post.

Notes
- ^ The term "minor" will likely not be seen as minor by the company itself. Nevertheless, if the divisions are "large" enough to merit their own mentions in relevant secondary sources, please provide them.
