AfD?

[edit]

I was rather surprised to see an AfD here (fortunately now closed) and would have !voted keep, if I'd seen it. Just to further refute the "briefly playing with" nonsense, I saw him with Mayall just at the end of last year, 2017, at a Bristol gig where the total age of the audience was enough to reach back to the Jurassic. So even ignoring his own substantial solo career, nearly thirty years with John Mayall ought to count for something.

Maybe he should record some rapping or dubstep? Wikipedia likes rappers. Andy Dingley (talk) 10:07, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The word "briefly" was my error. At the time I proposed the AFD, I couldn't see any single criterion in WP:MUSICBIO that Buddy Whittington met, and another non-voting commenter agreed. Note that my original proposal was stated in uncertain terms; that is, I admire the guy's talent and skills based on the videos I've seen, but I wasn't sure if he merited an article. So I put it to AFD. In the end, I am glad that this was kept. ~Anachronist (talk) 16:07, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I also saw him playing with John Mayall in Dartford in late 2014 and again in London’s famous London in November 2017, so the claim in the article listing members of Mayall's band that shows him having left in 2008 would seem to be in error. Mr Larrington (talk) 20:49, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
