Born Where?

This page says he was born in Hoagland, Ohio. The Baseball Encyclopedia says Hoaglands, Ohio. Neither one is mentioned anywahere in wikipedia. Wtf? Badbilltucker 19:23, 3 August 2006 (UTC) Buck Ewing was born in Massillon, Ohio on 1/31/03. He died in Schenectady, NY on 9/1/79 ( ehowa)[reply]

Two Buck Ewings?

Just reading a book "Images of America - Schenectady" where a picture of a Buck Ewing is shown. His full name is William H. 'Buck' Ewing. The picture shows an african-american player who supposedly was a "popular catcher" who "played for the Schenectady's Mohawk Giants from 1923 to 1929". Troy is a few towns over and I just wonder if there is a mixup either here in Wikipedia or in the book or in both places. The Buck Ewing in the book is said to have died in 1979 and was managed by Hank Bozzi of Schenectady and then later was himself a manager of the Schenectady Mohawk Giants. I just reread this article and it appears as they are two different people with the same name, both good catchers, both active in the NY Capital region. - comment from David Krings 2009-06-27

Buck was a catcher in the Negro National Leagues from 1920 to 1941.He played for the Chicago American Giants, Homestead Grays,Albany Black Sox and the Mohawk Colored Giants, of Schenectady N.Y. Upon retirement, he worked as a laborer for Campbell Plastics in Schenectady, N.Y. He and his wife Inez resided on Paige Street in the same city. The ballfield in the city's central park is named after him. He and Inez are buried in Park View Cemetery on Fehr Ave., Sch'dy, N.Y.Ehowa (talk) 01:31, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
