Reference to Mother of All Demos
[edit]I am removing mention of Mother of All Demos from this Article because the Demo was not held at Brooks Hall, it was held 'next door' at the Civic Auditorium also known as the Arena, since renamed the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. More specifically I am moving its mention to the Civic Auditorium Article.
It's very understandable to have confused this, since Doug Engelbart himself often referred to the demo site as Brooks Hall, and for years two pages he helped author on his Institute's website dougengelbart.org said it was held at Brooks Hall. So it's not surprising that several press articles featuring the Demo also say Brooks Hall. Apologies to all for any confusion! Contributing to the problem was probably that the 1968 Fall Joint Computer Conference where Doug and his team presented the Demo was held at the convention center that included both Brooks Hall and the Civic Auditorium, entrance to the conference was gained through Brooks Hall where the registration tables, information booths, and vendor exhibits would have been, i.e. it was very much a center of gravity at the conference. See poster announcing his session to be held in the arena (aka Civic Auditorium, not Brooks Hall), and photo of the Auditorium as Doug's team was setting up, again definitely not Brooks Hall.
