The company's web says: http://www.avagotech.com/pages/corporate/company_history/ "We have developed an extensive portfolio of intellectual property that includes approximately 4,200 patents and pending applications."
The wiki article states:
It holds more than 5,000 patents.

– The short-lived former satellite television channel seems like a less important meaning of "Avago" than the current large publicly traded technology company. The company, which seems about to double in size due to a major announcement today, seems to often be referred to simply as "Avago", which is more simple and concise than "Avago Technologies" while remaining recognizable. Note that in the logo shown in the article, the "technologies" part of the company's longer version of its name is de-emphasized, and some of the sources omit it, and the stock ticker symbol is "AVGO", not something like "AVGT" or "AVTC". 90-day viewing statistics are 30k for the company, 1k for the television channel. Since the television channel is defunct, interest in that topic is likely to decline as time moves forward. It also seems possible that many people currently landing on the page for the television channel are looking for the article about the technology company. Several of the incoming links (from Michael Grimes, RF Micro Devices, Silver Lake Partners, and User:SageGreenRider/List of divestitures by Hewlett-Packard) are errors caused by that confusion. A similar example is that Huawei Technologies is a redirect to Huawei. --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 21:58, 4 June 2015 (UTC) —BarrelProof (talk) 17:45, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- Follow up comment: I just noticed a report that "After the deal the combined company would be named Broadcom, sources close to the deal told Reuters", so Avago may need to eventually become a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT, but I think the move suggestion is still valid, as "Avago" will still be more notable as the former name of a large current technology company than as the former name of a former satellite television channel. —BarrelProof (talk) 19:10, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- Update: Since this request was submitted (specifically, at 00:12, 30 May 2015 (UTC)), the Avago article was moved to Avago (TV channel), and Avago was redirected to Avago Technologies. That seems to accomplish most of what I was suggesting. —BarrelProof (talk) 16:03, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
