Unsourced changes
This article gets far too many unsourced changes, or changes contrary to sources, even from registered users. If even registered editors keep changing numbers without providing new sources, I am inclined to fully protect this article, and then anyone who wants to change any number will need to present a supporting source on this talk page and ask for the change with {{editprotected}}. - Another change [1], after prompting, got a source [2]. The source is http://www.britney.com/us/biography. (Note that when edits refer to "official website", some may understand that to be http://www.britneyspears.com/ - which is another reason editors really really need to provide urls when changing numbers.) Anyway, since this article doesn't copy many other items from the britney.com bio, is the britney.com bio going to be considered the reference point for everything on this page? Some things? What? The Certificacion of Womanizer in France
In the office page in wikipedia of the first single of her album "Circus" is written that Womanizer has been certified gold in France... so... why in the page of the discography is not written this? And why in the single toxic are? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.46.195.176 (talk) 00:20, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- The single "Womanizer" has sold 121,990 units which is enough to meet the requirement of Gold certification for singles, but has not yet been certified by SNEP due to not having received the fee from the French record company which releases Spears' records there. You can verify French certifications though the following sites, 1, 2.--Harout72 (talk) 02:32, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
29 singles
Why there is only 29 singles? Count: Baby one more time, Sometimes, Crazy, Born to make you happy, From the bottom of my broken heart./5 Oops, Lucky, Stronger, Don't let me be the last to know./9 I'm a slave, not a girl, overprotected, love rock'n'roll, Anticipating, Boys/15 me against the music, toxic, everytime, outrageous/19 my prerogative, chris cox megamix, do something/22 someday/23 and then we kiss/24 gimme more, pom, break the ice/27 womanizer, circus, seek amy, radar/31 3/32
??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vinokurov Demis (talk • contribs) 19:50, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's because Chris Cox Megamix and And Then We Kiss don't count as real singles, just promotional singles. --PlatinumFire
- If count it there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britney_Spears_discography#Singles we'll get 30 singles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vinokurov Demis (talk • contribs) 10:12, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- But in fact "Anticipating" is a single too. It's not important is "Anticipating" a minor single, or not. At first it's a single. And so who has decided that "Anticipating" is a test release in France? The single "I love rock'n'roll" was not released in France — Release of "I love rock'n'roll" in France, has been replaced by release of "Anticipating" (they have similar design of CD, and they has been released during the same period). So "Anticipating" is the second "I love rock'n'roll" for contries, where "I love rock'n'roll" has been not released (France, Brazil). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vinokurov Demis (talk • contribs) 15:08, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- And also look at this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Britney_Spears_discography&oldid=312808498 On this page number of singles is 29. Than the single "3" was added to list, but the number of singles is still at 29, like was before. So we get, that 29+1=29. --Vinokurov Demis (talk) 12:46, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- No, it is 29+1-1=29. --PlatinumFire 13:51, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Why minus one? No one single has been deleted from table. 29 - is number of singles from BOMT to Radar (info from this page http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Britney_Spears_discography&oldid=312808498). Then the single "3" was added to the table (+1). Look at this picture and you will understand me http://www.imagebam.com/image/4d03d656908977 .--Vinokurov Demis (talk) 22:00, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- I understand, but look on Talk:3 (song) and look the pictures there. If we count all those minor/radio/promo singles we'll get 40 singles! --PlatinumFire 19:20, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Chart peaks in France
Someone is putting the digital download peaks in France as the official chart peaks. This Needs to be fixed. Gimme More (#5) and Womanizer (#1) are the only songs that charted in France after Do Somethin'. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.57.143.15 (talk) 02:08, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

- No. Unreleased albums don't go in discography articles.—Kww(talk) 19:19, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Why do...
Why is this page using britney.com as a source? FIRST OF ALL: the sales and certifications are outdated SECOND: those sales only count the certifications shown there THIRD: some certifications are fake and/or do not match with real certifications... so why do we use it as a source? PLUS, people refer to it as an official page, while it is not! It's is her record label page...while britneyspears.com is the official britney page. britney.com says that the album ...Baby one more time sold 22 million copies, while britneyspears.com, her OFFICIAL site says over 25 million... we should use other sources than britney.com, because it is not reliable at all, but when i try to change the source, a known christina aguilera fan that I'm not mentioning now lowers sales to what britney.com say...I am just saying that we shouldn't use britney.com as a source. --GenieOFbritney (talk) 05:22, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Blackout sales...
the album Blackout has sold over 3.1 million copies worldwide. http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/videogaga/10234/britneys-27-most-memorable-moments/ http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/nov/28/britney-spears-circus this two sources say it. But people keep lowering it to 2.5 million using jive records page, which had an article from January 2008 saying 2 million, now the article has been deleted. They also use an old biography from Spears, that says 2 million and is based in that jive records article from 2008. The album has been for nearly three years and sold 2 million on its first two months of release, according to IFPI. So, don't lower sales again please, Blackout sold over 3.1 million copies and there are sources to confirm it. The one who is lowering Blackout sales and putting two fake sources/links should stop doing it. Thanks. --GenieOFbritney (talk) 16:38, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
"Britney" sales
in this video, Britney Spears says she was busy selling "fifteen" million copies, referring to his previous album "Britney." Leaving Britney's own mouth, we can consider that "Britney" has sold fifteen million copies!

- No, we can't. And YouTube is not a reliable source for this. Please see WP:RS. - eo (talk) 21:20, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Be realistic and stop inflating sales
youtube is not a reliable source, get real.
According to Forbes (a real reliable source) among other sources, britney sales are like that in the present:
Baby one more time: 22 millions; Oops I did it again: 17 millions; Britney: 9 millions; In the zone: 8 millions; Blackout: 2.5 millions; Circus: 3.5 millions
According to Forbes, brit has sold more than 63 millions, those are tha updated sales. Not because we are fans, we have to inflate sales come on. I'm a huge britey spears fan, but facts are still facts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.216.196.149 (talk) 21:26, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
excuse me but...and yuour source? ...Baby one more time has sold over 25 million copies as of 2010, so stop changing it. http://www.britneyspears.com/2010/01/baby-one-more-time-11th-anniversary.php if you don't believe it.
By the way, Forbes never said 63 million albums, that's what Jive records said in the Singles Collection press release, which is wrong, because in Circus press release it said 62 million (and circus sold 3.5 million, so they are wrong). Forbes, back in 2007, said 75 million albums. --GenieOFbritney (talk) 22:37, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Unusual You Is a confirmed single
Hi, At the time, i thought the re-direct was a good idea as discogs was the only source we could find. I always knew it was real as i own a copy of the CD Single. But now, there are reliable sources confirming the singles release. The Music Charting Industry confirms that the CD Single was released worldwide on 15 September 2009.[3] Also, it states that it was released worldwide, not just in Australia. If you look at "3" on that site, it states the pacific countries where it was released. It tells you where the CD Single was released and the EP was released. However, on the Unusual You CD single, it doesn't give a pacific area, which means it was released worldwide. I think that giving one for the most reliable sources on the net, that Unusual You can be a single on Wikipedia. Is it possible to put it back up? Thank - You--Apeaboutsims (talk) 02:27, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Unusual You Is a confirmed single 2
i added it, but people will delete it probably because they don't see it as reliable...but i hope it is not deleted. --GenieOFbritney (talk) 20:57, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
I was informed that unusual you was an Australia ONLY release, as she was touring there. Similar has happened before, in example, a mexico tour promo cd was only made available in mexico... Im pretty sure that is the case. Im not at all claiming that the unusual you cd is promo, of course not, just that it was available only in Australia at the time she was touring there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.107.79.174 (talk) 13:37, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Britney has sold over 100 million records according to RIAA.
You read that right!
hollywoodnews.com has written an article claiming that Britney Spears has sold over 100 million copies worldwide! Quote: "The Recording Industry Association of America has announced that Spears has officially sold over 100 million records"
"Spears sold more than 28 million copies of her debut album, “Baby One More Time,” and has sold over 20 million copies with her second album, “Oops!… I Did It Again.”"
Baby One More Time has sold over 28 million! So lets change that! ;)

Unusual You (again) WITH SOURCE'S
Official confirmation of a CD single release here. Then we have a video game franchise report that Unusual You managed to peak at No.19 on the ARIA Physical Singles Chart (a chart of music based on CD Single purchases) in October 2009. Since it charted on the other charts as well, it should have an article. Especially if "Unusual You' manged to reach 19 on the ARIA charts.--Apeaboutsims (talk) 02:43, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Please tell me...
Can anyone tell me why is Netherland included in the charts peaks for both albums and singles? I mean, it's not a reliable country for Spears sales and it's not a big market. I think that it should be removed from the list. Thanks. Or at least please explain me why it should be there. --GenieOFbritney (talk) 22:09, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

- So what if her sales and peaks aren't good there, that's not being very fair... NZ and IRE are smaller markets, and japan is less reliable that the Netherlands... Anyway, say another country that could go in?AtomicMarcusKitten (talk) 16:10, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
- removing a country for the pure reason of her chart peaks aren't as good as somewhere is an invalid reason and it's WP:UNDUE. discogs are meant to show an artists performance across a range of varied markets, not just her best performing ones. and the sources and charts in the netherlands are 100% reliable. 82.44.8.187 (talk) 20:00, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thankyou! :P It's clear this person is just a huge britney fan and trying to make her look amazing! AtomicMarcusKitten (talk) 20:04, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Per WP:DISCOGSTYLE: "a good rule of thumb is to go by the relative success of the artist on that chart." Per this guideline, poor chart performance is valid reason for exclusion. Yves (talk) 21:07, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yer, but its also based on the size of the market! And i don't know what the f*ck either of you's are on about... She was very successful there, its only recently she's gone downhill... it's staying :) Unless you can think of a better country... Jeeez.AtomicMarcusKitten (talk) 21:27, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Blackout Gold?
i checked the source given, it didnt say anything about the album going gold, i even went on the RIAA database and it didnt have blackout logged at all, meaning it wasnt certified, now i understand at those sales (like 900,000+ right?) it should have gone gold in the US, but we are not ones to give out certifications based on what we think.
it looks like this article could be run by just another crazed britney fan, but upon reading the above discussion of someone trying to just put all her highest charts in i see that you people actually care about the quality and fairness of this article i suggest it could be removed or if it did go gold, put a serious and reliable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.146.40.150 (talk) 22:35, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Britney Spears discography
I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Britney Spears discography's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Britney has sold 100 million albums!!! Please realize this
For the record,
Britney Spears has sold 100 million albums, and has been certified by the appropriate recording industry companies who chart such progress.
This is a completely reliable source, since Billboard is the main outlet that provides information for music in America and throughout the world!!!
Also the Internet Movie Database Bio for Britney:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005453/bio
And to be even more convincing here are as many sources as I can find that say she has sold 100 million albums. Why would multiple sites post the same thing, yet not be held as credible? These many websites, blogs, and news pages cannot make up the same information.

All these sources seem to prove that she has sold 100 million albums. And if you include singles it is at least 140 million.
So please change this because her label has been wrong for years, which may not seem to make sense, but record labels only pay for certifications. It is not their job to tally every one of their artists' sales. That is left to compiling industries, such as Nielsen SoundScan, the IFPI, and the RIAA.
Even the certifications already confirmed and posted on wikipedia are much closer to 100 million than 67. And check out these other wikipedia links that also prove album sales far greater than 67 million:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Britney_Spears
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_selling_music_artists
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_album_copies_has_Britney_Spears_sold
Plus when she went on tour in 2009 and when she released the Singles Collection her label put out similar press releases as the one yesterday, and wikipedia ignored those so why be any different now. All of them were and are incorrect. Could you reply so I know that they were changed?

Live Nation as a source
I have removed all the claimed figures which were supported by Live Nation. Live Nation should not be used as source not only because it doesn't directly support those claimed figures but also its use should be avoided because it's a promotional site in nature making its reliability questionable.--Harout72 (talk) 07:25, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- Again, check every other artist page, it's all promotional. Like Lady Gaga's 14 million albums sales, Michael Jackson's
- album figures...
- You even removed britneyspears.com. That one was not promotional. That were facts of the album! And if it
- can not be used, then there is no confirmation of her last single, huh? Who is reliable for you then? --GenieOFbritney (talk) 18:00, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
Please see WP:RS, Spears' site is not a third party source. Our policy clearly states Anyone can create a website or pay to have a book published, then claim to be an expert in a certain field. For that reason self-published media—whether books, newsletters, personal websites, open wikis, blogs, personal pages on social networking sites, Internet forum postings, or tweets—are largely not acceptable. This includes any website whose content is largely user-generated, including the Internet Movie Database, Cracked.com, CBDB.com, and so forth, with the exception of material on such sites that is labeled as originating from credentialed members of the sites' editorial staff, rather than users. As I mentioned on your talk-page, sales figures should be supported with third party reliable sources, they could be new services, music industry related organizations such as MTV, Billboard, VH1 etc, etc.. Britney Spears is rather famous, therefore, locating a source for her sales figures should not be a big problem. By the way, I just checked the source at Lady Gaga discography, and the source which support the 12 million in sales for The Fame is an article by CBS, which is reliable.--Harout72 (talk) 01:47, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

--91.154.96.195 (talk) 15:27, 28 January 2011 (UTC) Blackout album page says that it has sold Platinum in the US meanwhile in the discography page its says it has sold Gold, wich is the right one, it has still sold 991,000 in the US.
- Neither was correct, RIAA has not issued Gold or Platinum for Blackout. I removed both. You should, by the way, sign after your comments not before.--Harout72 (talk) 16:10, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Why hasnt it beeen certificated, its 3 years ago it was released, and it has sold 991,000 in the US? --91.154.102.90 (talk) 12:30, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- The record company would have to pay the required fee in order for RIAA to issue a Gold certification for Blackout. The record company will possibly wait out and pay the fee once the album passes the 1 million mark and get RIAA issue a Platinum certification instead of paying one fee for Gold and another fee when it reaches a Platinum status.--Harout72 (talk) 19:32, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

US Pop
Why is the US Pop chart listed here. First of all airplay charts are not suggested to be used in discography, and second of all they are usually used in cases where charts are needed, Spears is a worldwide artist, so this chart shouldn't be here. Candyo32 18:01, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- Agreed. They should only be listed for artists who fail to receive much attention on the other more notable Billboard charts like the Hot 100. The question is, what should it be replaced with? I suggest maybe Italy, Japan, or Spain, with Italy as my top choice. --ĈÞЯİŒ 1ооо 18:42, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

"That's Where You Take Me" is not a single
I'm pretty sure "That's Where You Take Me" is a single. The source listed doesn't seem to be reliable, as articles on the same website also claim that "Cinderella" and "Bombastic Love" were also released as singles. If any of these songs were released as singles, wouldn't they have been included in some versions of The Singles Collection? Akcvtt (talk) 20:42, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
- It received the same type of release "Anticipating". That song isn't in The Singles Collection either, does that make it not a single as well? Both songs received a very small release, which is probably why it wasn't included. Why would her label include a song that never charted on an album of #1s? ℥nding·start 23:53, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
S&M featuring Britney is #1
It should be added to the discography! Now listed as featured artist on "S&M," Spears earns her fifth Hot 100 No. 1 and second this year, following her own "Hold It Against Me" in January. She had previously reigned with her debut single "...Baby One More Time" in 1999 and returned to the summit with "Womanizer" (2008) and "3" (2009).

Seriously, S&M should be listed as one of Britney's singles
It was posted but somebody removed it. Britney Spears is officially listed as a featured artist in the Billboard Hot 100 #1 song, S&M. As such, this single should be included on the 'as featured artist' table. You can see the song in the chart with Britney's name here: http://www.billboard.com/#/charts/hot-100.
If people are confused as to why Britney deserves credit for the remix, Billboard officially decided she should get the credit because her version outsold Rihanna's more than two to one (among other reasons). See: http://www.billboard.com/#/news/ask-billboard-britney-spears-rihanna-hits-1005150552.story.
Alternatively, the Billboard article that discusses this as her fifth no. 1 is here: http://www.billboard.com/#/news/weekly-chart-notes-rihanna-katy-perry-paul-1005148452.story.
Please recognize that regardless of how you feel about Britney, the article is supposed to display official chart positions which (as seen in all three of the reliable sources I've quote) mantain that S&M Rihanna feat. Britney Spears is no. 1. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.211.170.182 (talk) 22:23, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

- Thing is we need this info from the official certifying agencies around the world, not third party ones like her website etc. Also, just to point out a quick error, she is not the only female artist with 6 #1 album, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson share that record, with Madonna with 7 and Barbra with 8 #1s. So that goes to show the can't be too reliable.--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 11:48, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

In the chart of all of Britney's singles, please add a note under the "Till the World Ends" single that "the sales of 'The Femme Fatale Remix' have also been counted for it" because it is counted in this way on the Billboard Hot 100.
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Can you provide a link to a page that confirms specifically that the Billboard Hot 100 counts these songs this way? —Tim Pierce (talk) 14:32, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Also, in the chart for Britney's other charted songs, please change "(Drip Drop) Beautiful" to "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" because there has been a typo for the title of that song. The official title mentioned before is the one available on the "Femme Fatale" album.

The US certifications are all missing for these. I believe Womanizer should be 3x Platinum. (3,298,000) sold in the US. 3 also went 2x Platinum (2,225,000). Hold It Against Me (1,520,000), Till The World Ends (2,638,000) and I Wanna Go went Platinum with 1,592,000 million copies sold in the US. <http://www.billboard.com/#/column/chartbeat/ask-billboard-what-are-britney-spears-best-1007232152.story?page=1> Please make these changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.148.131.6 (talk) 06:28, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

U.S. sales for Femme Fatale are inaccurate. They are listed at 850,000 and the source never stated that those sales came from that album, but rather that in 2011 that's how many albums Britney sold in total (This can include Femme Fatale and her catalog of albums). The latest update on her sales has this album at 760,000 in sales. This needs to be reflected in her discography. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.181.182.23 (talk) 16:31, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Albums worldwide sales
All her albums worldwide sales are inflated. This article is clearly run by Spears fans. · Mcdonalds (talk · cont), at 16:11, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- Of course it is run by Spears fans... Maybe you should worry about the Beyonce Discography inflation instead of this one. --Amare135 (talk) 12:58, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- I do, I do. But Beyoncé inflated numbers aren't by 7 million. · Mcdonalds (talk · cont), at 11:00, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
Messed up compilation albums
The section "Compilation albums" is obviously a piece of shit. It currently includes multiple unofficial listings as well as EXTREMELY IRRELEVANT ones such as packs like "In the Zone / Britney", "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative / Live and More!", it makes the section looks awful, unorganized and untrustworthy. Britney only has 4 official singles collections/remixes albums which are "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative", "The Singles Collection" and the 2 editions of "B In The Mix", the rest of the titles listed under "Compilation" are either unofficial or 200% irrelevant to the section, making it look like shit. We must only use what was released properly by her label(s), Jive, RCA, Jive/RCA. In case of doubt, use http://www.britney.com/us/music to source your changes. There we only see listed her seven studio albums and their corresponding deluxe editions, and the albums I had cited as her compilation albums. Britney.com is her official website. The other titles there are singles and singles remixes EPs which are not to be listed. --Zefron12 (talk) 13:41, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
S&M mess and chart peaks
Hello everyone. Maybe I don't understand the logic, so explain me, please. Why S&M is listed as a full single with chart peaks that were made even before the remix single release? Article says, remix was peaked at #3 in UK. It's false, remix wasn't even charted in UK. I know, you, Britney fans, want her to have more and more good chart positions worldwide, but it's very irrelevant to show Rihanna's success as Britney's because Britney was credited only in US, SWE and CAN so for other countries there are no proofs and references. And what's more funnier, there are certifications in table, like remix was sold 4x Platinum in UK where Britney wasn't even credited as featured performer :)
So, I think the only right way is marking S&M as promo release (which it is, actually — the promotional single to increase popularity). It was done like half year ago, but someone has changed it again. It can't be in the way it is now, as I said, to many wrong and rigged information. If you show chart positions, you must show only correct Britney-credited peaks with references. It's Wikipedia. --demistalk 06:29, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- I totally agree with Demis here. "S&M" Remix as he said charted in few territories while the original version was for ex. number one in Australia more before the remix was released. I agree with his suggestion, or eventually, leaving as a single, but adding the numbers of charting where the version of "S&M" was credited as Rihanna featuring Britney Spears. — Tomíca(T2ME) 09:53, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Promotional singles are free, so that is not it. I don't know how they made it worldwide, but in the U.S., they combined the positions of the original version and remix together. A simple note could work to say that the positions of the original and remix were combined, and not all charting may be relevant to said version. — Statυs (talk, contribs) 10:08, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- I think we should check the peak positions for the countries that are in the table. If they label "S&M" as Rihanna featuring Britney Spears, then the position is fine to stay, if not we just add — instead. Same goes for the certifications. — Tomíca(T2ME) 10:12, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- It's not that easy. For example, "I'm Real" was released in original and remix form (the remix should have been counted as a separate song, as it is, they later changed the rules of it... but that's another story), so both versions effected the charting, but J.Lo was the only one credited. — Statυs (talk, contribs) 10:14, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Looked through the sources, the only chart that credits Spears' name is the US and Canadian Billboard Hot 100. But as I said in my last comment, that does not mean it did not contribute to the chart positions of other countries. — Statυs (talk, contribs) 10:20, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Well, tbh, I think the S&M (Remix) only charted in US and Canada as Rihanna featuring Britney Spears. If you check all the Hung Medien published charts for countries like Australia, Norway and New Zealand, you can see that there is not clue of Britney in them. — Tomíca(T2ME) 10:17, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Well, on Wikipedia everything we add should be sourced right? In the Hung Medien charts Britney's name doesn't appear as a contributor to "S&M", making it quite clear how we should react to it. It's pointless having #1 in Australia in the table, when all of us know that the original version reached #1, not the Remix. Or 4xPlatinum by ARIA. 10:23, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- As I said, just because her name is not attached does not mean she did not contribute. The remix was released to give the song a boost (which it didn't even needed, but whatever). From what I've seen, it seems like the remixes are only separated in North America. Think of it more like, the Britney remix contributed to its chart positions and therefore it assisted the song in its peaks. Whether or not it had more weight in one chart is not for us to decide, as we don't have that type of information from the sales, airplay, etc. The only thing to add a note, as I suggested. Which she should also be on Rihanna discography; actually, the version that's mentioned as a single only peaked at #2, not #1, as it suggests. — Statυs (talk, contribs) 10:31, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

- Free? Why? Was all Taylor's latest promo singles free? No. --demistalk 10:57, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Two types of promo singles: 1) free and 2) iTunes Countdown (available to buy for a very limited amount of time, and then made off-sale). You can still buy the "S&M" remix. — Statυs (talk, contribs) 11:31, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Again you are ignoring the example I mentioned with Australia. I respect your opinion, but I don't think that the remix helped the song move through the charts in Europe. Take UK as an example, the original peaked at #3 there, did it boast the peak after the remix release? No sir, it just stayed the same. The remix helped the song become #1 in the US and CAN right, but not in other countries, thus I am still sticking to the suggestion given by Demis above. — Tomíca(T2ME) 10:36, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- And that's your opinion, and you have no evidence that the remix didn't contribute to the charting of the song. The bottom line is, once she did a remix on the song, it became her song also. You can't pick them apart. You can't remove all the positions but the US and Canada and claim that the remix never charted in any other country. — Statυs (talk, contribs) 10:40, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- I can claim it until otherwise is proven. „Her“ song is only the remix. You can record and release „Somebody That I Used to Know“ remix, but original song wouldn't become yours as you couldn't say 'My single is 6x Platinum' — that's what you say about S&M. So references should be added and only those, which were Britney-credited. We all Britney fans want to give her as much chart success as we can, but please, can we be a little bit rational?--demistalk 11:02, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- That's not a accurate comparison in the slightest. Rihanna personally contracted Britney to feature in a remix of the song and it contributed to it chart positions, as we see in the US and Canada (where the remix made the song #1 in both). This is completely rational. You can't go off and claim that it didn't chart in the UK, Australia, etc. when it was combined with the original "S&M" sales. — Statυs (talk, contribs) 11:31, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- I never said that the song doesn't belong to Britney, but, the main artist is Rihanna. And again we are going into circle (and I don't want this to happen). S&M was number one in Australia more before the remix feat Britney was released, meaning the remix didn't do anything to the song peak position. However, it did in the US and CAN (the reason why Billboard credited Britney as a feature and later remove it). I suggest a rationale opinion, the territories that credited Britney can have the peaks, otherwise is WP:OR. And you know that buddy. — Tomíca(T2ME) 12:53, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
