[edit]Given that this ceremony covered the whole of the preceding 25 years, category headings such as "British Album of the Year" clearly aren't correct -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 09:09, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- I agree. I'm going to be bold and rename them.Seaweed (talk) 13:52, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
It's pedantry time... there never was a "Brit Awards 1977"
[edit]This article might one of those times where there has been some revisionist history going on. I've been hunting around the internet trying to find as much detail about this event, but it's not that easy. I think one of the better sources is Billboard from 29 October 1977 (which can be found scanned on Google books). That article refers to the "Britania Awards" sponsored by the British Phonographic Industry. It was a one-off showcasing the previous 25 years. The article goes on to say "The aim is to make it an annual event". Of course, the next equivalent event wasn't until 1982. I know that the BPI refer to this event as "Brit Awards 1977" on their own website, but I think that's just for their own convenience and marketing (which is fair enough). However that's not actually what happened. There never was a "Brit Awards 1977". I think Wikipedia should be more precise and call the event what it was. I'm highly motivated to do a page move, although I'm not sure what to do actually call it. Maybe another time. Seaweed (talk) 13:50, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
Sources for nominations?
[edit]I can't find any sources for a full list of nominations of these awards. Has anyone ever found or seen one? Seaweed (talk) 13:52, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
